Used up my free looks at the Courant. Impressions from the Boneyard is they want to be Independent.

Aresco wanted $30 Mil. UCONN wanted $15 Mil. They settled on $17 Mil and 4 basketball series. Well worth it.

Baby steps. Let's kill the ESPN3 games first.

That's the point - don't play every game on a weeknight in November. We have a decade of data and a TV agreement on hand to know how many matchups will get on ESPN2, ESPNU, CBSSN, etc. so we don't schedule game that'll only be available via streaming.

I don't think we actually control those games any more, we sold the rights to ESPN and their family of networks. Depending on what restrictions were negotiated in the contract, ESPN calls the shots. They do sell some games to CBSSN.

Mr Head,
That is correct. CBS-SN games are sub-liscenced from ESPIN.

The MAC shouldn't go near Mass or Conn .....plenty of reason they are all by themselves.

How the heck did prairiedawg get to a positive reputation?

Next year after another recruiting class and the transfers are eligible, it should be pretty fun. From 247sports

Quote:Boykin originally joined the Fighting Irish in the class of 2018 as the #34 cornerback and #366 overall player in the nation per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. As a four-star .8916 he was also rated as the #2 player in the District of Columbia in his cycle coming out of Woodson H.D.

Boykin becomes the third Power 5 transfer to join the Minutemen since the new coaching staff came to Amherst, joining Jarvis Miller and Jordan Adams. In his announcement Boykin cited new UMass defensive coordinator Aazaar Abdul-Rahim specifically, and Abdul-Rahim's DMV-area connections have been significant in recruiting for the Minutemen since he arrived.

RE: UConn joining Big East. Football...?
If the MAC could add UMASS + JMU all sports (best option) OR
UCONN FB + UMASS all sports PLUS a guaranteed increase in $$ money $$ contracts with ESPN covering the costs of adding teams to the conference + a multi-year deal, it would potentially be great. It would benefit ESPN with increased market and the MAC overall. A combo all sports with 2 teams is best option. I also think moving eastward is better for the MAC with larger TV markets.

DREAM OPTION:
The dream option would be to add ARMY FB + UCONN FB + UMASS (all sports) + JMU (all Sports) for a 16 league FB conference and 14 team BB conference. ARMY would like the regional match ups with UM, UCONN, and Buffalo plus the JMU game with all the military bases there.

Then re: ICE HOCKY bring in ARMY, USAFA, + NAVY (need to upgrade NAVY to D1 ice hockey) + bring back BGSU.
Add that to current NCHC teams and great conference with regional rivals.
USAFA, Denver, CC all close
Miami, WMU, BG all close
ARMY/NAVY/UMASS all close
MN/ND schools close
Nebraska in between

Umass football is garbage, along with Uconn. Even the Big Ten regrets Rutgers. Stick with your Lacrosse paddles.

You forgot hockey, from nothing to Frozen Four Championship game.

JHVMU19, been here for long enough and know this. Unless two teams can add 1M in value each, it is not going to happen. Been fighting a war against the vocal minority. They do not think them selves as the minority, but push come to shove, all UMass casual fans care about is having a good time and going to a game with a responsible expectation of a win. The hope is if in the future there is something, the vocal minority would loss the propaganda war.

So yes you can construe me as desperate, in the end know I control nothing and simple say my piece.

Even if you want to talk net over the by-law $12m exit fee, that is inaccurate, AAC wanted $18m extra for UConn to leave early, UConn was talking about paying $3m extra, so you are $2m high on both sides.

It ended up with UConn paying $5m extra plus playing some BBall games.

Unless the BBall games are counted as worth $8m+, the final deal ended up closer to UConn's ambit claim than to the AAC's.
