I think you are jumping to conclusions on the MO's intervention - this could have come from a number of sources. Look into it and see if it happened (and by who).

There has been plenty of embarrassment to go around on this, but this never sat well with me. To me this is in the same vein as the Kavanaugh thing and a host of other "false claims".

If what this guys claimed was the real deal, I would hope that the people responsible would get the book thrown at them, but in the same vein, if somebody is going to flat our lie about this kind of thing it it can do just as much harm on so many levels:

- it perpetuates (in this case) racism
- it perpetuates "victimhood" (and the benefits of being a victim)
- it perpetuates a false sense to the acting profession in general
- it sets the tone that telling a lie like this may be worth it because you will basically only get a slap on the wrist so the benefits far outweigh the possible punishment

They have text messages from MO's former chief of staff (or current one, cant remember) to Smollet and also to Kim Foxx. It was also leaked to the PD that this was occurring, which is why Foxx did her fake recusal. So, there is damning direct evidence that places MO very close to this.

Favors are done every day... from a relative on the PD getting a speeding ticket waived to getting a family discount at a store. I am not sure I really give a rats arse who called in the favor in this situation as much as the gravity of what was being swept under the rug for all of the reasons previously stated (and more).

This is not a back / white issue either. Anyone making a false claim like this regardless of race should be called on the carpet for this crap.
