PSU has no baseball or MSoc. PSU would not help the WAC one bit.

Seriously people, do more than just look at a map and see what geographically fits.

The autobid isn't in question, so why is this even an issue?

NMSU and GCU will be fine, as will UTRGV and CBU.

Have often said that the WAC having the right to offer FBS to new schools is looked on so envied by FCS ones, but that’s been ridiculed. Sam Houston St, Lamar, and maybe Incarnate Word would jump tomorrow if they had a chance, providing Chicago St, Seattle, Dixie St and Utah Valley are disposed of. Cal Poly, Sac St, and UCDavis would also move over. Also, Missouri St, Wichita St and UTRGV would be a part of WAC FBS.

NMSU wouldn’t have to play the FBS transitionals until after they are fully FBS.

That's a lot of movement to make WAC FBS a reality...but to your credit it's less movement needed compared to your GNC movement so you have that going for you here.

It is if the WAC doesn’t have seven fully DI teams, which it doesn’t meet now, and if it doesn’t have fb as a conference sport.

We've been over this. The WAC isn't losing it's autobid. Bank it.

Have you seen how they call UMKC tournament games? WAC has known and had time to prepare. Going to miss the WAC but if NMSU maintains the jump they made last year, there will be no competitive balance in WAC.

Maybe the WAC should have let KC host one year

Maybe they didn’t on purpose so you would leave. Speaking of leaving, don’t feel like you have to wait till 7/1/20 to leave this board. You can leave sooner.

PS, I hope your new coach is working on FTs so the refs don’t determine the outcome of your games when you miss crucial ones late in the game...

As the article states, they might have to go independent for FB since the Big East doesn’t sponsor that. Would give NMSU another potential scheduling partner for FB.

Even though that was pretty crappy of the WAC to promise that and then not deliver, can you blame them? Having UMKC host it would have been a total embarrassment and the conference might have lost their spot in Vegas. UMKC and Chicago St can barely draw flies to their games, they wouldn’t have sold tickets to the WACT anyway.

Nobody is sad you’re leaving. UMKC is a crap program with no fans. You can join DU at the bottom on the Summit standings now.

Hurd is the one who said they'd have a chance to host the tournament. Now that there leaving I'm glad they never hosted a tournament. The WAC would've lost its slotted date for the tournament at the Orleans to another conference.

The WAC has a standing date with the Orleans Arena to play the WAC tourney there. Playing in KC would open up an opportunity for someone else to occupy the Orleans Arena the weekend of the WAC tourney in the future. The WAC tourney is tied to the Orleans Arena until the WAC choses to move its' tourney away from Las Vegas permanently.

Why? You guys would just get eliminated in the first round on your home floor. UMKC could not win in the WAC. So you take a step down to the Summit and maybe you can win there. It costs you nothing to leave the WAC, it costs $1 million to leave the Summit. But AD Brandon Martin knows that you are not getting an invite to the MVC.

By the way, instead of a post-season tournament in Las Vegas, you get a post-season tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A Dakota school has won the tournament eight straight years. But now you get the bus trip games back. Enjoy the trips to Omaha, Tulsa and Macomb.

RE: UMKC going to Summit
Hurd should be on the line with the AD of the Air Force Academy just to let it be known that their Olympic Sports have a home if needed. Just makes too much sense!! It would have to be kept hush hush though as last time this happened it blew up in his face and MWC did a preemptive strike. Was not long ago that we were going to take Boise and I think San Diego St Olympic Sports and he countered with a death blow by inviting Nevada, Fresno, USU and Hawaii. I think San Jose St and BYU were also part of the preemptive strike with BYU ending up in the WCC after WAC expansion bottom fell off.

The autobid is only in question if the WAC falls to 7. But it's worth remembering, a multisport conference that doesn't play football must sponsor men's basketball and at least two other male team sports - like baseball, men's soccer, hockey, water polo, etc. I don't think tennis and cross country count.

What I described above mostly applies to the Summit League though.

The Elephant in the room is that NMSU is so different financially from a sports perspective from every other school in the WAC (Compare NMSU vs Chicago St) that it will continue to cause instability in the WAC until they can find a football conference to join.

The jump NMSU made this year in basketball was very impressive and they looked like a sweet 16 team if they had been paired against anyone but Auburn.

There is just no competitive balance when NMSU can recruit the way they are so there is little incentive to finance sports when the WAC is so top heavy.

I'll enjoy the WAC for one last year.
