Playing off Wisman would've allowed many Tigers to be that man....

Thomas' shooting struggles had nothing to do with Wiseman being gone. Lance got great looks all year long and just threw up bricks. As the season progressed he started finding his shot which is promising for this coming season. But his shooting struggles were 100% on him because he was wide open on most of his misses.

Easier to shoot and not worry about bricking when you know you got backup (offensive rebounding advantage) to cleanup your brick....

If you are shooting and thinking about or worrying about throwing up bricks then you should not be shooting regardless of who is on the court to rebound for you.

What I have literally never heard from any player at any level ever say is "I would make more shots if I just knew I had better rebounders on my team"...

They don't have to say it. Check the stats

I don’t disagree. It’s a subconscious thing.

It also needs to be at least a little bit of a conscious thing. If your team is totally out of position for any shot at a rebound, the shot is usually not as good of a shot.

True...In a close game. See Lester at the end of the Georgia game.
When you are up by 20, it doesnt matter nearly as much.

Exactly.

Now that makes your argument even more BS since Houston switched to small ball a few weeks before the season suspension.

That's the point. They sucked when forced to do so because they cut ties with their only center. 3s stopped falling and Ls came more frequent as well asteam dysfunction. You didn't get that memo but that's ok.....

Nah I just misread that last post. You've somehow tied 3s with rebounding but completely ignore that it changed how teams can defend the Rockets. And then also the perspective.

https://hoopshabit.com/2020/03/09/housto...l-flaming/

Quote:There’s a reason teams don’t run a perpetual small-ball strategy. Playing up a position (or two positions in some cases) is exhausting. Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors Death Lineup weren’t playing 30 minutes per night, they were playing short stints so opposing teams couldn’t overwhelm them with size and brute strength.

The Rockets are paying the price for playing small, and we’ve only started March. There’s more than a month until the playoffs even start. They are exhausted and battered, their energy is waning and their confidence is shot.

You're going to struggle shooting well if you are getting worn down faster than normal.

I hope Lance will be able to light things up next season and knock them down at a crazy number. But him starting the season 6.8% wasn't because of a lack of confidence in rebounding. Especially when we were outrebounding the other teams.
