Pac-12 finalizes Las Vegas Bowl matchups, and more bowl developments
Based on the known developments — not all the partnerships are official — here’s the likely Pac-12 lineup starting in 2020:

1. Rose Bowl vs. Big Ten
2. Alamo Bowl vs. Big 12
3. Las Vegas Bowl vs. SEC/Big Ten
4. Holiday Bowl vs. ACC
5. Redbox (at 49ers stadium) vs. Big Ten
6. Sun vs. ACC
7. Los Angeles Bowl vs. Mountain West
8. Independence Bowl vs. AAC

The new L.A. Bowl is essentially the current Las Vegas Bowl, but in a better stadium

The article you linked shows "ACC" as the opponent in the Independence Bowl... not that I want that, mind you.

I don't know if giving up Phoenix vs B-12 for Shrieveport is good move
Independence bowl needs locals to support game to survive
You want recruiting exposure, Pac-12 has 2 bowl games in Texas
Expand with Houston & Hawaii

That article starts off with confidence, mentioning "full clarity". Then, it ends with "here’s the likely Pac-12 lineup" and they appear to be getting their information from the same Stadium article that's been out for weeks.

Several articles from the ACC perspective have come out stating the ACC will not be in Independence Bowl.

Also, the date on this article is from June 4th, so this is not exactly the most current information.

I do... MWC vs PAC-12 will ensure it survives.... the more important question is going to be...will the Holiday Bowl survive with a PAC-12 vs ACC Tie-in... the Sun Bowl has local support, I am not so sure San Diego does... Maybe they will prove me wrong.. but my thinking was they probably needed a BIG12 tie in if they were going to lose the BIG.

The article associated with this thread indicates that the PAC-12 has Arizona covered for recruiting purposes and that the Independence Bowl gives them a shot in the South Central area for recruiting there. Also the Cheez It bowl will pay $1,037,118 dollars this year while the Independence Bowl will payout $1,248,280. Maybe the PAC-12 feels it worth the risk playing in Independence Bowl this cycle for a little more money and the recruiting in that area. 04-cheers

Exactly. This is the top MW bowl—-so it’s bound to do decently. Add in a P5 fan base on the other side and it should be fine.

That is until another P5 conferences steals that spot.

It will do very well. The game is going from Sam Boyd Stadium, a dump, to a state-of-the-art NFL stadium four miles from LAX airport. There are thousands of alumni from MWC schools and Pac-12 schools living in Southern California. It will be a much more popular bowl game than the Sun Bowl or Independence bowl. My only question is the payout?

If “rumors” are true that this could be the #4/5 PAC team, then I think it will be a pretty decent payout. Still waiting to hear on who owns this bowl and when it will be played.
I hope it will be after Christmas.

Fake news. Your header says PAC "finalizes" but then your post admits this stuff isn't official and is merely "likely".

You can do better. 07-coffee3

IMO, it is a craptastic move for the PAC. Playing a low-end ACC team in a small bowl in the middle of SEC country, but really, middle of nowhere, is just a terrible decision.

No reason anyone west of the Rockies will ever want to travel 1500 - 2000 miles to go there. The one saving grace is that this article is far from actually official, so hopefully for the PAC's sake it isn't true. 07-coffee3

But they aren't playing the ACC. That much we KNOW. The ACC has already announced their official lineup---and the Indy isnt part of it.

Then play the AAC.

Wouldn't make a difference over an AAC tie. Its not like FSU or Clemson would ever play there.

I don't see the bowl tie-in for the Pac-12 to the Independence Bowl. This shows as an SEC vs ACC bowl game. It does not make any sense for a PAC-12 team to go to Shreveport. I have been to Shreveport and it is not a city that Pac-12 fans are going to enjoy visiting. They will not show up.

SEC dropped the bowl and the ACC looks to be dropping it as well. Appears Gasparilla (ACC vs SEC) is taking it's place.
