RE: How UAB’s connection to Spanish Fort helps recruiting
The Blazers picked up their first commitment for the Class of 2022 last week from Spanish Fort sophomore receiver Mario Montgomery Jr., and south Alabama has become a vital recruiting base for the program.

“I see UAB becoming one of the better known programs in the country, maybe even a bigger conference,” Montgomery Jr. said.

That's an interesting quote. Wonder if things are moving behind the scenes and the coaches are already using it in recruiting pitches. 05-stirthepot

The coaches could doing the latter even if the former isn’t happening.

I think it's perfectly acceptable practice in recruiting to lay out the vision you have for the program and where a kid fits in that vision. Clearly this is being mentioned and you'd have to assume that the department is working towards that

Its always good to have a pipeline, Would try Valdosta, Ga and Niceville Fl. as well. and pick up where they left off like Cedertown, Ga. Phenix City has great Ball, you would think Birmingham and Montgomery are producing.

Central of Phenix City is coached by Woodrow Lowe who was a LB coach at UAB. He was run off by the large DC late in Brown's tenure. He may still hold a grudge against UAB from those days.

Woodrow Lowe hasn't coached at Central since 2014. Jamey Dubose, who took over Prattville when Bill Clark left, is the head coach. He is a close friend of Clark. He's also a dang good coach.
