RE: Our backcourt. Just how good can/will it be?
I know he's a freshman and not a polished public speaker, but I didn't like the way Lester assumed he was a starter and Lomax and Harris were the "bench". I thought it also weird that he spoke of himself, Boogie and Baugh as the back court. Not that it might not be true, I just thought it did't look good for the player to say those things before the season starts. For all he knows, he's on the bench behind Harris.

I also think that Dandridge and Maurice will be extremely important this season.

But, as far as back courts go, we have 5 or 6 starters. If Boogie is a super star (or Quinones, Baugh, Lomax, Harris, Hardaway or Boyce) we have one of the best back courts in the country.

We have one of the best front courts too, if Precious, Jefferies and Wiseman all live up to expectations or if Precious, Jefferies, Wiseman, Thomas, Dandridge or Maurice is a superstar.

Can't wait.

Well, your thread title mentions the backcourt, but the quote you posted talks about the front court. I can understand the confusion.

That's my point but Joe knows basketball. Both backcourt and frontcourt should be among the best in the country.

Lester is doing what Tyler did last year. Freshman stick together until the team meshes in practice. I recall Tyler making some self important statements last year. Penny will work it out.

I do agree that Dandridge will be a key piece in a deep run even if it’s only 15 mpg. He is the classic junkyard dog and a wide body.

He would be playing behind Wiseman, Precious and Lance Thomas. I doubt if 15 mpg is doable. 10 mpg would probably be his max unless there are injuries.

My mistake. I’ll fix the error. I do know basketball. Don’t know anything about playing the guitar or the piano. Don’t know much at all about algebra. But yes, I do know basketball. Which isn’t saying much because if one has been around the game their whole life, they should understand it quite well. After all, it’s not a difficult game to grasp. I make typos and errors when typing out posts. My fault.

I know basketball too. I just never really call players frontcourt and backcourt players. It used to be you would have two guards, two forwards and 1 center. Positions on the court were set so backcourt players and frontcourt players were easier to distinguish. In today's basketball so many positions are interchangeable and a traditional center isn't always around so the lines are blurred. You might have 3 or 4 guards and 1 forward or 3 guards and 2 forwards.

True. I have to see how we match up against teams that are really physical. I love to see if Coach Darby Rich can help to improve our strength.

Absolutely.

One of our coaches said this team may "seriously overwhelm opponents athletically" especially in the front court. He said they're all ridiculous athletically but Achiuwa is "absolutely off the charts."

It’s going to be off the charts fun.
