Did they even show the award category last night? I tried staying up but I passed out but I think they skipped over it. I know there are other categories that they don't air and announce before the show for time constraints, wasn't sure if this was one of them

I don't care for award shows but watched the whole show hoping ODU would be mention. I didn't even hear the category mention, I did walk away for a few minutes so maybe but doubtful.

Boxing is a world sport. This was a world event.

There was no chance of out voting boxing fans.

One youtube highlight video had 12 millions hits.

Per Ed Miller, the category wasn't shown on TV. Imagine how pissed we would be if we had won, but got no air time. Instead, we got no air time.

I think we unofficially knew the result when ESPN gave us the low-down so Bobby and company didn't waste a trip. That was nice of them to do.

Lol. You mean all those 5 or 10 clicks from different devices on the daily didn't push ODU over some of those worldwide sports results?

Let's face it it was a great win, but beating VT is something that a TON of schools don't even brag about. Beating Anthony Joshua was something NO ONE had ever done. Honestly, I would've been shocked if they let online clicks push us over Naomi's win over Serena even.

Now if we could ever get Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma or someone like that? Perhaps. VT just ain't that special and now that ODU finally got football, they never will be.

RE: ODU nominated for "Best Upset" ESPY!
I thanked my UVA friend for his work for us and told him we'd see him Sept 21. He replied, "Be easy on us" To which I replied:

we graduated like 21 SRs last year and another 9 kids left the program (no lie, 30+ players gone).

But with so many scholies available, we recruited….OK:
• We signed the #1 bowling player in the country as our new QB. But he is having trouble completing any passes more than 1 inch off the ground. That underhand motion is a little off… But he has a cannon for an arm. So far he has broken 6 ankles with his passes: 2 WRs and 4 cornerbacks.

• We signed a First Team High School All-American Curling Player as out new kicker. He is have a little difficulty with the concept of getting the ball airborne

• We signed that guy who won the Connecticut Girls 105 pound State wrestling champion as our new OLB.

• We signed 3 members of the Virginia HS Group AAA golf championship team. They are our projected starting LT, LG and C on the OL. Though early indications are they are having a little trouble with sound while playing, and are running away from any contact. They are a work in progress.

• Right now our women’s cheerleaders avg 25 pounds more per player than our DL. Looking to add them to the team.

• We had a slightly underweight center on the basketball team who was getting no playing time. Switching sports. He is 7’ 2” tall and weighs 143 pounds. He may well be our starting middle linebacker. He may never tackle anyone, but even Tom Brady would not complete a pass over the middle on us!

I don't follow boxing so no opinion on that.

Beating VT is the new normal, get used to it.

However, the yardage and points we put up on Bud FOster is something we can crow about a bit I'd say.

Since it wasn’t on tv (and what in CUSA is) it now makes sense that we didn’t send people.

It does make sense, but it was a chance to meet some of the biggest names in sport and eventual peers for those involved, regardless of if they would have won or not (Fulgham was apparently invited, I'm sure he would have loved to meet some of his idols and now current peers)
