Cincy is adding Jarron Cumberland's cousin, Jaevin. Jaevin averaged 17 for Oakland last year. He looks and plays a lot like his cousin too.
UConn if they can get Akok eligible which is in doubt then maybe they will be up there.
WSU lost a guy projected to be their leading scorer along with their leading scorer from last year. They will probably be 4th or 5th.
Houston lost 3 of their top 5 scorers but should still be good albeit not as good as last year.
USF returns everyone so they could finish in the top 4 teams.
Akok enrolled in January. No academic issues. No doubt he'll be starting at the 4.
Why not the 5? Josh Carleton?

The top of this conference is going to be very strong. Problem is the huge gap between the best and the worst.

Big blow for Wichita State yesterday too.
Yeah, losing Allen will hurt because WSU wasn't returning any reliable scoring. At least Allen would have been positioned to be that guy. Although at WVU he fell out of favor in the 2nd half of the season.
It was only 2 short years ago we'd be wondering if maybe we could get him here.

USF also gets ECU twice instead of Cincy and they get Cincy at home. Temple only get Memphis and Houston once each but they get Houston at home. Temple with any kind of team could get in the top 4 with that schedule.

Temple has a new coach and they lost their leading scorer, Shiz.

He's there, along with Jaime Echenique.
WSU lost their only two double digit scorers. Rod Brown transferred, as did their backup PG. Now they lose Allen.
So, essentially the 5th or 6th best team last year in the AAC lost their two best players, lost two expected backups, and now lost the guy who was presumably going to be their best player.

OTHO, they had the third best recruiting class in the AAC and the 40th highest in college basketball. And, according to WSU fans, they have a coach that turns straw into gold.

I think the assumption is that since they did so well in the NIT they will get a bump going into the season. That can often be true but as you point out there are problems with that assumption.

Yeah. The "3rd best" recruiting class in the AAC was two JUCO's and three frosh rated 137, 213, and 301.

Yeah, NIT runs don't really mean much, especially when the two best players/seniors are the ones pretty much leading the charge.
Looking back at the past six or seven NIT champs/runners up, most every team didn't make the NCAA's the next year. Two exceptions, SMU and Miami both did due in large part returning their top three scorers and at least five of their major players.
