In the elite eight round of the 1992 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, Michigan earned a rematch against a Jimmy Jackson-led Ohio State Buckeyes team that had beaten them twice during the regular season by double digits. Michigan won the rematch as all but two Wolverines points were scored by the Fab Five. Despite their talent, they never won a single championship, be it the Big Ten Regular Season Championship or NCAA Championship. They reached the NCAA championship game as freshmen in 1992 and again as sophomores in 1993. They lost to Duke 71–51 in the 1992 title game and lost 77–71 to North Carolina in 1993,a game which is remembered mostly for Chris Webber's costly "timeout", which resulted in a technical foul as Michigan had no timeouts remaining.
Two lost NC games was disappointing to Michigan and its fans, but those guys left their mark on the game. As Jalen Rose said, few people can name the starters on Duke or UNC the years they beat Michigan, but most can name the Michigan starters.
That is not remotely true about Duke. That is one of the most well known teams ever With Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley and Christian Laettner. Brian Davis and Antonio Lang as well.
Jalen Rose was talking out his rear end there.

Montross, Derrick Phelps, George Lynch, and Donald Williams—seems like a pretty good lineup to me. They were disappointing the next year 93-94, when they added Jerry Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace, and Jeff McInnis while only losing Lynch.

agree, this is why Coach K has changed his philosophy about recruiting the one and dones.
He didn't necessarily change his philosophy. He just didn't get them. He wanted Vernon Carey and Isaiah Stewart. Both top 5 players. He couldn't get a PG with Jones staying. He has no chance with Wiseman and Anthony.

He finally decided to accept the "Nike package".
Now they kids get the same deal from Nike if they go to Duke or UK. When you get the same, you go with the better coach.
Is this the first year since Cal has been there that they had 0 top 10 in the draft?

I only remembered Christian.
To be fair...Only Remember Rose, Weber and Howard.
