OT---"He Hate Me" is missing
Police in South Carolina have put out a missing person advisory for former Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers running back Rod Smart.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office says that Smart -- perhaps best known for his "He Hate Me" jersey in the XFL -- was last seen Wednesday in Indian Land, South Carolina.

"It is unusual for him to be out of touch for this long," police wrote in the advisory. "Mr. Smart's family is worried about his safety and well-being."

Smart, 42, played in one season for the Eagles (2001) and four with the Panthers (2002-05). He came to fame for his "He Hate Me" nickname, which he was allowed to put on his jersey for the one season of the XFL in 2001.

It is rather amusing and astonishing that basically all of us remember "He Hate Me", even though he achieved very modest fame for about 15 minutes more than 18 years ago!

I mean, when "HHM" was a thing, Bill Clinton had been out of office for literally like two weeks, the country was still engrossed in the "Hanging chad" Bush vs Gore controversy, and the 9/11 tragedy was six months in the future. Nobody had ever heard of Tom Brady or Lebron James or an I-Phone, and Michael Jordan had two years left to play in the NBA.

And yet we all remember, LOL.

BTW, the media is saying he was found safe.

He (or more specifically, his jersey) was the avatar for the crazy, edgy XFL. He wasn't the best player or the one who had the best post-XFL career, and he wasn't the only player to have something other than his name on his jersey, but those three words, for better or worse, epitomized the XFL.

I'm pretty sure that he was was the player tackled on the kickoff return that ended the Super Bowl when New England beat Carolina. There were still a few seconds remaining after Vinatieri's Super Bowl winning FG.

Glad to hear that he is safe.
