What’s up with Bellarmine, dropping 3/5 games?

Turns out I’ll be in Lynchburg for CFAW on that date with my eldest son. I’ll catch a couple Liberty games. Can’t believe I’ll have three kids at Liberty all at the same time this fall.

What’s going on with Bellarmine? The wheels are falling off a little bit.
16-5, lost 5/7 games.

RE: BELLARMINE
After losing 6/8 games, it looks like Bellarmine is rebounding, having won its last 4 moving their season record to a respectable 20-6. They have one regular season game remaining and should win. They are currently 5th in the 16 team GLVC.

Liberty is hosting Bellarmine today in tennis. Is this the first matchup between an ASUN team and the Knights?

It might be since the D-I move was announced back in June. Bellarmine has played lacrosse conference games against Jacksonville for a number of seasons now. I also seem to recall BU competing against Lipscomb and Liberty at one or more cross-country events. Too bad Sunday's tennis match wasn't a women's one -- lately, the Knight women have been better than the men.

Happy to report that Bellarmine got the 5th seed in the D-II tournament's Midwest region (one of eight regions). Can't complain. Twelve straight trips to the NCAA Tourney -- currently the longest streak in D-II.

There were certainly some bumps in the road late in the year, as well as focus lapses, injuries, and opponent "career nights." But it'd be great to see a good run now, particular for the seniors.

I'll be pulling for the Flames in the D-I tourney, as well as any other ASUN squads playing in the post-season.

Congrats on 12 straight! Go Bellarmine!

Absolutely...

I will pull for all ASUN schools if they are not playing UNA.

RE: BELLARMINE
Thanks for the support, all. It's a bummer to see that the tourneys won't happen, but Bellarmine was kind of limping into the D-II post-season anyway.

Definitely ready for some ASUN action -- I've been giddy over that notion since the announcement in June. Bring it on, baby.

I'm glad and excited to have Bellarmine, it makes a solid conference, as well as a balanced conference with 5 private and 5 conference schools.

RE: BELLARMINE
What will Bellarmine bring to the table their first year in the ASUN? A veteran team, a young team? Will they bring in a bunch of transfers?

RE: BELLARMINE
There’s already a rivalries thread going, but who are Bellarmine fans most excited to play in the ASUN next season? I’d just assume it’d be Liberty and Lipscomb since they are both private border state schools.

RE: BELLARMINE
I’m guessing there’s just not much excitement by Bellarmine fans about moving to DI and joining the ASUN by their lack of interest in message boarding.

Of course the same could be said of almost every other ASUN team. What does that tell ya?

All message boards are slow right now. And to be honest, how many fans really know about certain message boards, if any?

With no college sports going on right now, these boards are definitely slower. I'm guessing it will pick up a bit in a few months.

Exactly. Leading up to, and after, Bellarmine's announcement of the D-I move, there was a ton of buzz in Louisville and among BU alums all over. Throughout the coverage of the Knights' hoops season, local media would always throw in a reminder about the move.

I think the pandemic has ground pretty much everything (not just sports) to a halt, and there's a lot unknown about how things will look going forward.

I'd chime in about the BU roster for next basketball season, for example, but it wouldn't be realistic until we get a final ruling on immediate transfer eligibility. The squad lost a lot with Cook and Weyer graduating. While there still is talent in the program, the remaining guys are young and will take time. If the Knights don't bring in someone who can play right away, they will likely struggle; with the right transfer(s), they could make a little noise.

I would say most schools use other message boards besides this one as their primary source of interacting. This website isn't the best indication of overall excitement.
