The CJ guy with him is awful. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard and his obnoxious, scratchy laugh is even worse. And he laughs at every damned thing like it's the funniest thing he's ever heard. Only problem is Edmiston or nothing else on the show is funny. Ever.

I can't believe it's still on the air. The ratings must be pathetic.

Yep. I KEEP trying to give the show a chance, but the CJ dude is a low grade Stephen A. Smith and he does zilch for show prep.

Says dumb*** things off the cuff--the crap you would overhear at a sports bar that makes no damn sense.

sooooo...kinda like racecar guy?

Peter needs a foil not someone that laughs at every thing he says and doesn't offer anything. When he was on with Wolo it wasn't great but it was 100 times better than now.

I have tried the Jeff Wright/Mark G show. To me it's also bad. You have the very excitable Wright who doesn't really offer much and the somewhat informative Mark G who can put an insomniac to sleep in a few seconds.

Also, Mark G is clueless about Memphis and says things that really just rub Memphians the wrong way too often.

He has never experienced the impact good Memphis basketball has on this city and because of that does not understand it at all. He can only base it on other teams that don't have an entire city supporting them.

Mark G. is a “Michigan Man” through and through. Even tweeted about it as a Memphis best writer. If you know any personally, you know that they are very self important when it comes to anything to do with their school. Sports, academics, famous alumni, etc.

July 1st is here and still no named basketball beat writer for the Tigers at the CA.

Meanwhile, Drew Hill has settled into the role previously occupied by the demoted Jonah Jordan at the DM.

I discovered that Clay Travis is on 790.

Pretty good show.

My choices are NPR (FM 91.1) or AM600. I will give AM790 a try.

Where have you been?

Again, Munz is doing it. He's put out 12 stories since Drew left. Drew has published seven since he's been at the DM. Last I checked 12>7.

Yeah, a real dearth of Tigers news from Munz.

It's frucking unlistenable this week. Peter is on vacation and that dude is essentially solo.

Turrible.

RE: Who is the beat writer for the Commercial Appeal now?

Shout out to the CA and Jason Munz for this 2 part piece. This was very insightful. Jason may not be the beat writer permanently but getting into the depth of the program and providing this level of detail sets a whole new standard. The is the inside info Tiger fans crave. This will be a tough act to follow.

Darby Rich is a great find for the program and has his pulse on what the team needs to get better. I was surprised to read DRich's thoughts on Wiseman, DJ, Ryan Boyce and Jayden. After reading his comments, this team is young and will struggle at times. But I'm confident that if we fail, we won't be for a lack of effort, toughness and acumen.

according to him, he'd rather cover football

Stated reasons do not always align with actual reasons and the stated reason makes little sense for an ambitious young man looking to make his mark on the national stage. I speculate there is more to the story. Regardless, I welcome more Tiger coverage.

Yeah I suspect JJ didn't willingly give up a premo job with as much visibility as Tigers bb will generate this year. I guess the DM decided they wanted a full-timer covering Penny and the team. And they determined JJ was best at football.

word on the street is that penny let the daily know he didn't appreciate the wingett situation

That was bush league

Yeah, a real dearth of Tigers news from Munz.

Yes, he issues Tiger news. However, my sentence states "July 1st is here and still no named basketball beat writer for the Tigers at the CA."

If Muntz is the named Tiger beat writer, then he has not updated his twitter bio nor has the CA mentioned it.

For comparison, see below for the Tiger football beat writer:
