Mick's cringy quotes, bragging about his job and how much money he makes, talking about how defense wins games, obvious overcompensation for some deep-seated insecurities... this stuff used to illicit a long "sighhhh..." followed by a rubbing of the temples. Now, it's just funny to hear this nonsense from an outsider perspective.

I hope Mick is able to visit Ireland soon. He is always welcome at the homes of his fellow wee folk.

The whole clan can go as "The Lollipop Guild"

The quotes in this article don't seem to come from someone who is very intelligent.

I'm in the camp that Mick served UC well overall...and that it was also time for him to move on. His decision to pursue UCLA saved UC from an uncivil war within the fanbase had UC decided to push him out of the nest for an able successor. I'm probably most grateful to him for that reason.

I wish Mick well. But I have high hope that Brannen can take the Bearcat program another step higher. I won't be surprised if UC is consistently outperforming UCLA on the big stage in the next three years. I'm guessing Mick won't want to renew the series with UC either.

Same. I think Mick is a good dude, but his routine grew stale here.

I'm here too.

I always took up for the little twerp. I liked that he got us in the NCAA every year.

He got good guys that you could like such as Gary Clark and Troy Caupain.

He was a Cincinnati guy. I wanted him to succeed.

That said...

That Iowa game was the last straw for me. I've said it a thousand times, if you get outcoached by Fran McCaffrey, you gotta go.

I still can't believe UCLA hired him.

Mick is so out of touch. He needs to hire a PR person...and therapist.

Questioning if the dentist story ever happened. If so, looks terrible for him. Even my wife married me for other reasons than money, I think.

I think the timing of his leaving was good for all. Including Mick.

I have no ill will toward Mick and from my perspective his move seemed good for all parties.

UCLA was blessed with incredible talent under the previous coach but played more like an all-star exhibition squad than a disciplined team. The question remains: when it's crunch time against AZ or OR in the Pac 12, will Nix be walking the ball up the floor each possession looking over his shoulder for a play from the bench? Inquiring minds want to know.

Meh. Good for Mick, the kid, and UCLA. Get past the first weekend of the dance and we'll talk some more.

I was wondering why there were no quotes from Mick in that article on the kid unless he can't comment yet. The current player did comment. It almost read like the player recruited him. Lol.

So according to the scouts the kid is a great passer but he needs to learn to shoot. He went to the wrong place for that.

Mick can't until he signs. NCAA rule from decades ago.

In an article the recruit stated Mick told him he was changing his system and they were going to run the ball more.

Feel like I heard that for 13 years and it never came to fruition.

It doesn't cost money or take a school with prestige to make that change. What the hell took him so long?

He will be taught deflections.
