I think Mick is a fool for saying half of that stuff. But What I said was recruiting to UCLA Will be easier than recruiting to the Bearcats. Regardless of Mark Few or Memphis or anything else. That’s a different Argument and I hope Coach Brannon can recruit at least as well as them.

That is beyond dispute. What I dispute is Mick's implication that UC can't hope to compete with non-elite P5s.

Beyond dispute, but that is was what Mick said. He was not throwing UC under the bus. If he blends his strong D, with naturally talented scorers, he could definitely get to a FF. Big Q is, will he switch to straight man if needed, or feel the need to stay in a match up zone. A person doesn’t need to show that they are genius defensive coach. The goal is to win the game. If your players are more talented let them play to their strength.

Probably stay in zone. His refusal to go to man defense was always a mystery. If the other team is busting your zone, and you have a squad filled with players who have been specifically recruited for defense, why would you not play man when zone isn't working? Stupid, or at least stubborn.


sadly, most of it was stubbornness.
