Bill Self, Sean Miller, et al: Ask not for whom the bell tolls
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket...violations
Quote:A high-ranking NCAA official told CBS Sports on Wednesday that at least six Division I men's basketball programs will receive notices of allegations for Level I violations, the most serious infractions under NCAA rules, as a result of the federal government's investigation into corruption in the sport.
Stan Wilcox, the NCAA's vice president of regulatory affairs, told CBS Sports at an athletic directors conference in Orlando, Florida, that two programs might receive notices of allegations by early July and that four more probably will receive them by the end of the summer.
Quote:"Those top coaches that were mentioned in the trials where the information shows what was being said was a violation of NCAA rules, yes. They will be all part of these notices of allegations," Wilcox told CBS Sports.
Just in case I have to mention it: The line in the subject header is a paraphrase from the poem For Whom The Bell Tolls.

Pfft.. these guys and their universities are going to be fine. I have yet to see any evidence in the past several years that the NCAA has the balls.

At some point the NCAA is going to have to bring its rules into conformity with what its most important members are all doing. Maybe this situation will move them in that direction.

Don't bet on it! They are going after the most visible, yet not vital, targets.

Well, let's hope that there's a limit to the amount of hypocrisy people will tolerate (but I wouldn't bet my life on it!)

They've never hesitated to go after Kentucky.
And its not academic snobbery because they have nailed Georgia Tech for minor violations. And they let North Carolina get by with fake degrees.

The NCAA does move slowly. More than 3 months after the article linked above, we get this:
KU basketball expected to face multiple major violation allegations from NCAA
Quote:The NCAA is preparing to issue a notice of allegations that details multiple major violations in the Kansas men’s basketball program, The Star has learned.
Quote:ESPN recently reported that NCAA investigators were also working on cases at Arizona, Auburn, Creighton, Louisville, LSU and USC.
