I like the updated renderings, really looking forward to 2021 assuming it is actually ready by then (which is starting to look questionable)

One of the designers posted on Reddit saying it wouldn't be ready for the opening ceremony of the World Games in July 2021.

Just be ready by August of 2021.

Yeah, I've heard that we are recruiting as if it will be ready for Fall 2021 and will keep doing so. So basically dont expect an announcement about 2021 games being played at legion field until spring 2021.

I wonder if it may not be ready for the first game, but we could transition to the new stadium at some point during the season. That wouldn't be ideal though.

Also, I hope they have a plan for tailgating around the stadium. That's an essential part of a college football game day environment. I've heard that UAB is studying having tailgating on campus and then shuttling everybody to the stadium. That would be a subpar plan. There needs to be a reserved tailgating area next to/near the stadium similar to the current set-up.

I think tailgating on campus is what its going to end up being, and I agree that it's a subpar solution.

Just be ready by August of 2021.

Again, according to one of the designers, the renderings that were put out today are still not the final product and they're only approximately 50% done with design work. While the site grading work will hopefully start in July, apparently the construction documents (allowing structural work to begin) won't be ready until November. So you're talking about construction work on the actual structure not starting until November or December at the earliest.

Based on that, even having it ready for our 2021 opener seems optimistic.

FAU broke ground for construction of their stadium in fall of 2010 and opened in October of 2011, so it is quite possible to have it complete for our opener if it is started at the end of this year.

The newest renderings look great! Cant wait to see the dirt moving. Looks like the hillside on the north end of the property may remain somewhat and the lay of the land sculpted to permit the sloped endzone seating built right into the hillside.

When we played at their place a few years ago I seem to remember a lot of on campus tailgating. Perhaps that was all Greek life though. We tailgated at some random strip mall close to the stadium.

They had busses that would shuttle you from the paid tailgate sites to the stadium. I took one from the Official UAB site. Granted it was blocks instead of a couple of miles but it worked well. I like the idea of tailgating on campus.

IMO tailgating options at the stadium will be limited to Uptown or the company we currently use that sells spots in the north part of LF other than that you'll be on your own w/ maybe some kind of organized stuff on campus w/ a shuttle. None are ideal for creating an "home" atmosphere at the game. I hope they prove me wrong & that there will be some kind of parking/tailgating spots we can get at the stadium like we currently have.

I just dont know where the space would be at the stadium unless its in a parking deck. The areas adjacent to the south and west are developed, and north and east are in the process of being developed.
