Some mighty strong bait you're throwing out here.
This whole thread is bait.

Any objective analysis is going to shout App State. Anything else is a flier, and sometimes they hit. Heavy favorite, but not a lock with new regime.

The War On I4 easily. But give App/GS a couple more years and a bit more national coverage.
The Holy War (BYU/Utah) would be the one I'd really point to in the past but Utah is P5 now.
I'm struggling to really think of any at the moment.

If GS keeps rolling and App transitions well into the new staff, this year's game might set a new level for atmosphere as both would be in great shape to win the SBC at a later date than when the game was played last year.
I would get behind this being the annual Thanksgiving weekend rivalry game (I'm from PA and less averse to a late November game in Boone than most GS fans).
But I've got another idea that's quirky enough to get some added national buzz without being too crazy. GS and App should play on Halloween every year. Make up some PR spiel about how losing this rivalry game is the scariest thing that could happen to either team. Maybe play it on Saturday if Halloween is on Sunday or Monday to keep away from NFL.
But that would be something that even non SBC/G5 fans would catch on to and appreciate. It's literally circling the date on the calendar for your biggest game each season.

Coastal wins it as Chaddington figures things out this time. The first rendition of his Coastal team wasn't so great. Part Deaux, despite losing many transfers, will be better.

The game could likely draw ratings enough to justify a Saturday slot on ESPNU.

0% of GSU and CC votes were homer votes. That's a big deal.
I voted for CC, because it fits my narative. I claimed when they joined that they were a sleeping giant of the SunBelt. They are just a really deep sleeper.

But it won't because ESPN wants that ratings boost on Thursday to boost their midweek profile. They'll stick an SEC matchup in a Saturday slot.

So I think you are inferring the fans of the three top teams all of whom won 10 or more games last season shouldn't believe in there own team. Also what the hell Troy have a little faith in yourselves!
I wasn't necessarily implying that, just having a little fun with the data. Also worth noting:
No App fans voted for GS or Troy
No Troy fans voted for App or GS
But 3 GS fans voted for Troy
I voted App State when this poll first came out.

To me, right now, there are just way too many questions about App and Troy with new staffs. A Satterfield coached App or Brown coached Troy would definitely have the advantage, but right now there's just no real information to go on.
Yes, they should both be good.
But our fans know just how quickly things can go south with a bad coaching hire.
