You do realize going into the CFP, the ACC had no shot of NYD bowl outside the Orange. There was no way there was going to be a replacement this cycle. If bowls are still existing, I think you are seeing the move to the ACC vs SEC in the Outback Bowl in the next cycle.

ACC 2013 Tie-ins
Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman
Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, 2:30 p.m., ESPN

Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (conditional)
Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, 9:30 p.m., ESPN

Russell Athletic Bowl
Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, 6:45 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. American

Belk Bowl
Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, 3:20 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. American

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl
Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, 3:15 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. SEC

AdvoCare V100 Bowl
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, 12:30 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. SEC

Hyundai Sun Bowl
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, 2 p.m., CBS, ACC vs. Pac-12

Chick-fil-A Bowl
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, 8 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. SEC

Discover Orange Bowl
Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, 8 p.m., ESPN

Compared to possible 2020 ACC tie-ins.
Orange vs SEC, B10 or ND
Outback vs SEC (if B10 goes to Orange)
Gator Vs SEC(Back full time)
Holidayvs P12 (On Fox Sports)
Belkvs SEC/B10 (May move up in order due to the Las Vegas Bowl Split and Money)
PinStripe vs B10 (Carried over from last contract)
Sun Bowl vs Power 12 (CBS and Carried over from past two contracts)
Military vs AAC (Carried over from last two contracts)
Gasparilla vs SEC (Tampa) (Fulltime vs partial last bowl contract)
Boston vs AAC (New)
First Responder Dallas (not sure how tie in will work but appears to be last tie-in)

Conditional Tie-in for 12th team of Birmingham does not get an AAC or SEC team.

I am pretty happy from where it was in 2013. On Fox and CBS bowls. Only two G5 tie-in, possibly three depending on First Responder.

Of course you are happy, the pinnacle of bowls for a NC State fan is the Gator because y'all have refused to compete in football for close to 30 years, which is one of the reasons we are in the situation we are currently in. NC State doesn't travel to support their team when they are playing in the Belk Bowl so why in the hell would a bowl like the Outback or Alamo want to get stuck with someone like that? NC State isn't the only one but you being a NC State fan it's a great example. The reason why we lost the Gator to begin with was the fact that they were being forced to accept teams they didn't want because they didn't travel, and I'm willing to bet that it's a huge reason why our non-Orange Bowl regular rotation is the absolute worst in the P5 with multiple cold weather bowls.

Kaplony,
Really, Kapolny. I have many Clemson friends and I actually cheer for Clemson when not playing State. Only two teams I despise in the ACC. One you can guess, other you would be surprised.

State fans did not invent the term Clemsoning. However, I will be the first to admit the Pack has done it the past two years. It was not that long when ago when Clemson was not meeting it's potential in the ACC.

I am thrilled Clemson became the flag bearer for the ACC when FSU fall off. Agreed many of schools need to take to the next level in the ACC. NCSU has improved but fell short in key games the past two seasons. Amazing what Clemson has done in the past four years, but don't act like they sniffed a national title after the Danny Ford era. We need FSU, VA Tech, Louisville, Syracuse, Miami, NCSU and even UNC to step it up. They need to be consistent 8+ winning seasons.

You should be proud of Clemson success, you only recently replaced FSU as the top ACC program. The goal should be the ACC sending 2-3 teams to the CFP like B10 and SEC. Non CFP bowls, just don't matter like they use too. You can ***** about the current line up, but the ACC history has yet to justify replacing teams outright in Outback or Citrus. In addition, the B10 swap out was part of the 12 year Orange bowl agreement. Thus, why I stated it may be the Outback path way for the ACC in the next bowl lineup. So I will stand by liking the bowl lineup since a full Outback or Citrus tie in was never going to happen in this six year deal. 04-cheers

That bowl is half owned by Atlantis resorts. They cover most of the travel costs, which is why CUSA teams that haven’t been to a bowl in a while frequently go there.
Also note that the notional payout isn't always the same as the net financial benefit, since a bowl with a big ticket allocation per school can leave a school that can't sell those tickets at face value with red ink that needs to be covered. AFAIU, the Bahamas Bowl doesn't play that particular game. Which would make sense, since the whole notion of advertising the Bahamas as a tourist destination only works if schools agree to go to the bowl.

Maybe they should take some of that money and renovate the Tangerine Bowl (my favorite name for it), but it is unrealistic to think they should do something about the surrounding area, that's a far bigger problem than a bowl can handle.

And in fact, the stadium has received several recent renovations, and is in the process of getting another $60m upgrade right now. I agree it is a patchwork job of a stadium, but that isn't really a problem because it doesn't host a regular team. If fans had to visit it 5-6 times a year (if e.g. it was UCF's home stadium) that would be a drag. But for a one-shot like a bowl, it works fine.

For my part, I like the stadium. Fond old memories of seeing concerts there in my youth, and the grounds themselves are safe. You just don't want to wander off in to the neighborhood.

Saw the Eagles concert at the Tangerine Bowl in '77 and it was great, but also went with my dad and brothers and sister to a minor league baseball game at Tinker Field, when I was younger, and he rushed us out quickly after the game. Both stadiums were next to each other.

That's awesome. I moved to Florida from up north (to go to USF!) in 1982, and saw these concerts (headliners) at the old T-Bowl:

1982 .... The Who

1983 .... Journey

1983 .... The Police

1987 .... Genesis

1992 .... Guns 'n Roses/Metallica

... thought I'm not sure that by the 1992 concert that it was still the T-Bowl, LOL.
