That is the payout for the winning team...Since college football moved from the BCS system to the Playoff era, money around the game has skyrocketed. While some believe the FBS should adopt the Football Championship Subdivision’s (FCS) model of a 24-team tournament, it’s not going to change when the current system is working so well for everyone involved.

In addition to the College Football Playoff revenue pool, of course, each bowl game pays out to the winner. Here are the winners of the other non-playoff bowl games from the 2018-19 season, and how much they collected for their respective conference.

American Athletic Conference (AAC)
Cincinnati Bearcats, Military Bowl: $2.07 million

Tulane Green Wave, Cure Bowl: $751,115

Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC)
Duke Blue Devils, Independence Bowl: $1.25 million

Syracuse Orange, Camping World Bowl: $5.80 million

Virginia Cavaliers, Belk Bowl: $4.51 million

Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Birmingham Bowl: $1.65 million

Big Ten Conference
Iowa Hawkeyes, Outback Bowl: $6.35 million

Minnesota Golden Gophers, Quick Lane Bowl: $750,000

Northwestern Wildcats, Holiday Bowl: $6.33 million

Wisconsin Badgers, Pinstripe Bowl: $4.30 million

Big 12 Conference
Baylor Bears, Texas Bowl: $6.30 million

Oklahoma State Cowboys, Liberty Bowl: $4.29 million

TCU Horned Frogs, Cheez-It Bowl: $1.04 million

Conference USA
Florida International Golden Panthers, Bahamas Bowl: $225,000

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, Hawaii Bowl: $1.00 million

Marshall Thundering Herd, Gasparilla Bowl: $1.13 million

UAB Blazers, Boca Raton Bowl: $1.00 million

FBS Independents
Army Golden Knights, Armed Forces Bowl: $900,000

BYU Cougars, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: $950,000

Mid-American Conference (MAC)
Ohio Bobcats, Frisco Bowl: $750,000

Mountain West Conference (MWC)
Fresno State Bulldogs, Las Vegas Bowl: $2.76 million

Nevada Wolfpack, Arizona Bowl: $412,920

Utah State Aggies, New Mexico Bowl: $1.05 million

Pac-12 Conference
Oregon Ducks, Redbox Bowl: $3.60 million

Stanford Cardinal, Sun Bowl: $3.45 million

Washington State Cougars, Alamo Bowl: $7.975 million

Southeastern Conference (SEC)
Auburn Tigers, Music City Bowl: $5.60 million

Kentucky Wildcats, Citrus Bowl: $8.55 million

Texas A&M Aggies, Gator Bowl: $3.17 million

Sun Belt Conference
Appalachian State Mountaineers, New Orleans Bowl: $925,000

RE: Ranking 2019 Bowls by Payout
There is one error on the web site: It says the highest-ranked G5 team will play in "one of the four" major bowls that is not a playoff bowl.

But, the non-playoff bowls this year are the Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Cotton, and since the first three are contract bowls, that means the highest-ranked G5 team will go to the Cotton Bowl - unless they are in the playoffs.

Not sure if this is trolling, but that’s totally incorrect. It’s a guaranteed payout to each conference to simply show up. Winning has nothing to do with it financially.

I believe this is combined payout not per team. Gasparilla was about 500K per team, they never sniffed 1 million per team. Showing my age, I remember when the use to have table in the newspaper with Bowl Name Payout per team. Back then there was at-large vs at-large selections unless it was Orange (Big 8), Sugar (SEC), Cotton (SWC) and Rose (B10 vs Pac 8) . Oh my, how times have changed.

This is correct. Its combined payout. But that doesn't mean that the two trams split it down the middle. Sometimes the conference with the higher pecking order pick may get more than the other team. For instance if the #3 ACC team plays the #5 BIG team, the #3 ACC team may get slightly higher payout than the #5 pick BIG team. At leat that's the way it worked under the BCS. Not sure about the CFP.

RE: Ranking 2019 Bowls by Payout
he Big Ten shares revenue equally, each schools payout will go to the conference to pool together. In addition to the individual bowl payouts, the College Football Playoff pays out the conference $300,000 for each bowl eligible school that achieves the NCAA APR goals, a whopping approximate $51,000,000 if your conference has an Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl or Sugar bowl tie in for their conference champion, and $300,000 to each school individually for meeting the above APR goal.

All things equal, that puts each schools payout at $6,391,964.29. That’s a ton of money per school simply for the Big Ten getting 10 bowl eligible schools but really a vast majority comes from having a team in the playoffs and three additional teams in NY6 bowls, which have much larger payouts than most other bowls.

The Dollar General Bowl comes with a $1.5 million payout. Half of that will go to the MAC, as is the case with the other four bowl games featuring a MAC team. That money gets divided evenly among the 12 member institutions — not just the ones playing in a bowl — through a standardized bowl reimbursement program.

You are correct! The Article is wrong, unless somethinghas changed... The payouts are split... Copy & Paste Article below

Ironic that the Citrus Bowl is the highest paying bowl after the NY6. They should take some of that money and cleanup the area that dump (being kind calling that sh*thole a dump) is located in.

Take any football stadium built in the 30’s drop it in the middle of a bombed out slum and you’ll have a venue comparable to that POS.

The teams and conferences that visit that place can have it. If I would have wanted that type of experience I would have vacationed in 80’s Beirut. One trip to that place in a lifetime is enough.

RE: Ranking 2019 Bowls by Payout
Just to be clear:

The numbers posted are the total amount paid out by the bowl, it is split in half for each participating conference. So e.g. where it says the Alamo Bowl payout is $7.9m, that means the PAC and Big 12 each get about $3.95m.

Also, winning and losing has zero to do with payout. But, sometimes the payout isn't 50-50 but will differ depending on where the bowl is in the conference pecking order. E.g., about 10 years ago, the Peach Bowl got something like the #2 ACC team and the #5 SEC team, so it paid the ACC slightly more than the SEC. Those situations are rare but may still exist.

Maybe they should take some of that money and renovate the Tangerine Bowl (my favorite name for it), but it is unrealistic to think they should do something about the surrounding area, that's a far bigger problem than a bowl can handle.

And in fact, the stadium has received several recent renovations, and is in the process of getting another $60m upgrade right now. I agree it is a patchwork job of a stadium, but that isn't really a problem because it doesn't host a regular team. If fans had to visit it 5-6 times a year (if e.g. it was UCF's home stadium) that would be a drag. But for a one-shot like a bowl, it works fine.

For my part, I like the stadium. Fond old memories of seeing concerts there in my youth, and the grounds themselves are safe. You just don't want to wander off in to the neighborhood.

That bowl is half owned by Atlantis resorts. They cover most of the travel costs, which is why CUSA teams that haven’t been to a bowl in a while frequently go there.

All of the AAC vs Cartel bowls have unequal payouts.

We rode a shuttle to and from the RAB from our hotel when UofL played Miami there back in 2013. There wasn’t a livable structure in a 6 to 8 block radius of that stadium. I remember seeing a “Jesus Saves” at a shelter or soup kitchen. It looked a lot like the Southside of Chicago. If you have ever flown into Midway, you’ll know what I mean.

Yet another reason why the ACC agreement to make that our regular top non-playoff/access bowl was such a bad deal for us.

Kaplony,

You do realize going into the CFP, the ACC had no shot of NYD bowl outside the Orange. There was no way there was going to be a replacement this cycle. If bowls are still existing, I think you are seeing the move to the ACC vs SEC in the Outback Bowl in the next cycle.

ACC 2013 Tie-ins
Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman
Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, 2:30 p.m., ESPN

Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (conditional)
Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, 9:30 p.m., ESPN

Russell Athletic Bowl
Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, 6:45 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. American

Belk Bowl
Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, 3:20 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. American

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl
Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, 3:15 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. SEC

AdvoCare V100 Bowl
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, 12:30 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. SEC

Hyundai Sun Bowl
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, 2 p.m., CBS, ACC vs. Pac-12

Chick-fil-A Bowl
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, 8 p.m., ESPN, ACC vs. SEC

Discover Orange Bowl
Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, 8 p.m., ESPN

Compared to possible 2020 ACC tie-ins.
Orange vs SEC, B10 or ND
Outback vs SEC (if B10 goes to Orange)
Gator Vs SEC(Back full time)
Holidayvs P12 (On Fox Sports)
Belkvs SEC/B10 (May move up in order due to the Las Vegas Bowl Split and Money)
PinStripe vs B10 (Carried over from last contract)
Sun Bowl vs Power 12 (CBS and Carried over from past two contracts)
Military vs AAC (Carried over from last two contracts)
Gasparilla vs SEC (Tampa) (Fulltime vs partial last bowl contract)
Boston vs AAC (New)
First Responder Dallas (not sure how tie in will work but appears to be last tie-in)

Conditional Tie-in for 12th team of Birmingham does not get an AAC or SEC team.

I am pretty happy from where it was in 2013. On Fox and CBS bowls. Only two G5 tie-in, possibly three depending on First Responder.
