Hugh Freeze wants Liberty to join a conference. Doesn't specify which one(s).
Depends on the conference. Independent works well. If a better overall situation (conference) opens up, consider it.

Bare minimum..... AAC. Neither C-USA nor Sun Belt interest me anymore. Maybe a combination of the two..... maybe.

Then grab Chattanooga, ETSU, W. Carolina, and either West Florida or N.C. A&T. They would all raise the ASUN profile.

RE: Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
With the ASUN increasing in size, it is likely we won't play everyone home/home annually in basketball. So who do you want to prioritize?

1. Lipscomb is likely our biggest (and I use that term very loosely) rival. We've played them 10 times in our history, 2 more than any other ASUN school which isn't saying much but a lot has been on the line with our games and they've upset us a couple times. They are in a bordering state.

2. North Florida is similar to Lipscomb as they've been the biggest threat to beat us for the ASUN championship but UNF has the better recruiting area for us.

3. Florida Gulf Coast has the brand name and the recruiting area.

After that, I don't particularly care. I should say that Central Arkansas is the opponent I care least about. They have no history, aren't nearby, and don't have a good recruiting area. Bellarmine is next lowest (sorry BU fans) to me. A small Kentucky private school without national relevance that is just moving up to Division I isn't exciting to me. Having said that, I totally get that a rural Virginia private school with politically polarizing stances and an overwhelming online presence can be rather hard to want to associate with so it goes both ways.

A perfect division for us would be the Florida Four ™ and Lipscomb but that looks impossible.

1. Bellarmine - We are going to discover quickly how good and competitive they are. They will become a challenge for us. Private like us. Border state.
2. Lipscomb - They are the closest thing we have to a rival now. I believe it will grow. And again, private like us and border state.
3. FGCU - They still have some name recognition and maybe they’ll be competitive again some day. None-the-less, they have a great location to visit.
4. North Florida - They play us tough (similarly to Stetson) and I like their coach.
5. EKU - They are pretty good at basketball, in a boarder state. That’s about it.
