Congrats Liberty, I as always will make my way up there to see a game or 2. Louisiana Tech is a great school that I know you guys will enjoy playing, especially in baseball.

I'm not believing we are CUSA bound till I see a official announcement.

I not only sounds like a done deal for Liberty, but Liberty is active behind the scenes trying to put CUSA back together by recruiting some of the ASun schools to fill out an eastern CUSA division.... So, pre-congradulations...

Interesting....it appears that Liberty is officially now a member of CUSA along with NMSU, JSU and SHSU

Long time....
This should be fun. I know Liberty will be fine financially and thrive / dominate. Hope the moveups can afford it.

I think its a great move for LU. Go here dominate for a few years and then ride the next wave to the AAC or better. Can't wait to hear the details. Hope MTSU and WKU Stay.

Just an fyi, I know an ACC play by play announcer. I asked him his thoughts about you all. Basically, he felt with you endowment, you would have not suffer with being a football independent. Also, that being in a conference, it would serve you all well. That travel was never going to be an issue for Liberty. Glad to see where you should have been five years ago! Wishing you many CUSA championships in all sports! 04-cheers

The new conference shift is IndependentFB/ASUN/BigEast/CCSA to CUSA/BigEast/???. Swimming and diving leaves CCSA to CUSA. Field Hockey stays in the Big East. Women's lacrosse is the question. They could stay in the ASUN. I would like to see them move to the Big East if possible. That would mean most sports are in CUSA while field hockey and women's lacrosse are in the Big East.

RE: Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
I'm not excited and feel we were better off independent in football. I understand the idea of joining a weak conference to dominate (the Boise State route) but there is no guarantee that we will do that. Even if we win the conference every year, I expect it won't earn us the respect to get the Access Bowl slot compared to the other G5 conference champions.

Assuming WKU and MTSU are gone, I hope we can get Missouri State, UT-Chattanooga, and Eastern Kentucky to round out at 10.

New Mexico State, UTEP, Sam Houston State, Louisiana Tech, Jacksonville State
Liberty, Eastern Kentucky, UT-Chattanooga, Missouri State, Florida International

Maybe Jacksonville State and Missouri State should swap divisions but with 10 schools, you'll play all but one each year anyways. I don't expect MSU to join based on rumors and I'm unsure about EKU and UTC as well. I don't want to build around the Texas schools and I think FIU should have a travel partner (Florida Gulf Coast?).

I also believe this is a mediocre choice at best. Would it have been harder to achieve success the indy route? Yes. But when the SBC did their FCS callups with App, Coastal, GaSo, and GaSt, the SBC was then perceived as the weaker conference. Things began to change when App entered winning and with bowl game wins. Then Coastal began winning and became nationally ranked and went to bowl games. So the SBC perception changed when the former FCS teams began winning.

I have no confidence that NMSU will have a winning record. If the FCS winning success of JaxSt and Sam Houston translates to FBS like App and Coastal, the perception can change of C-USA, being the lowest rung of FBS conferences, which it now is. And this perception will take 2-4 years to shift, if it does. And if they flounder, and it is left to LU to be the banner carrying program, then expect appeal, game attendance, TV viewership (the weak CBS Sports Network, Stadium and ESPN+) to teeter. And will LU have any conference games on the ESPNs or only on +?

So, it's a 2+ year wait and see period to see the results. And fortunately LU does not need low TV rights payout. Sometimes it is best to take initial steps than giant leaps. That a hope LU fans can yearn for that the remaining C-USA teams can continue to approve. At least C-USA has an appealing logo that's superior to the A-Sun or Big South.

RE: Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
On another note that is not football related, Liberty will know have a new home for women's swim and can also establish a women's golf program. It looks like women's lacrosse may need another home unless ASUN makes them am affiliated member. I wonder if our lacrosse team can affiliate with the Big East since our field hockey team is already there. Maybe down the line the presidents and commissioner will realize how beneficial our programs are and just need the opportunity to grow the conference and of course will help the school as well. Just a thought.

Looks like swimming and diving will have a minimal of one more year in the CCSA.

Finally some news about men's soccer and women's lacrosse from the AD...
“We’re still working on options for both men’s soccer and women’s lacrosse,” he continued. “We are exploring those right now. We have some good active conversations that we’re optimistic about, but nothing has been finalized. I’m hoping we can wrap that up by the end of the summer.”

Really hoping for the Big East.

Same here. Hope women swimming would be included there, and if that doesn't work, they can joy some of the CUSA programs.

If they were invited to the Big East.
LU would be the 12th Big East soccer team.
Georgetown
Providence
St. John's
Villanova
Creighton
Butler
Marquette
DePaul
Xavier
UConn
Seton Hall
Liberty

The 7th women’s LAX team
Denver
UConn
Georgetown
Marquette
Villanova
Butler
Liberty

And the 8th women’s swimming and diving team
Butler
Georgetown
Providence
Seton Hall
UConn
Villanova
Xavier
Liberty

And of course we are already a member of Big East field hockey
Liberty
Georgetown
Old Dominion
Providence
Quinnipiac
Temple
UConn
Villanova

The other Big East Sports not sponsored in C-USA are men’s LAX and M/W ESports.
And C-USA sponors Beach Volleyball.

This would be great and we can try to create a rival against Georgetown. That could likely help us get out of conference games in other sports. I could only wish that men's lax could become program, but title ix is in affect. Even if we establish one or two more women's sports like golf, water polo, etc), men's lax wouldn't happen based on expenses. How cool would it be though! We have the support from students; it may even increase being a conference. As a former lax player, I would love this to happen. They even would need to expand and renovate the lax field to be a multi purpose stadium (maybe 3-5k seat). Hey, anyone can dream right? 03-lol

RE: Realignment/Possible Liberty Future
I’m not sure it’s that far fetched that at least one of the sports is under Big East consideration We’ve proven to the conference to be a valuable member thus far.

I wonder what the A10 looks like for our needed sports? I don’t feel like doing the homework right now, but that would be a nice landing spot.

Dare I say, the AAC could use a few teams in certain sports as well.

The last I checked the MAC has 5 mens soccer teams (7 womens lacrosse). I would much rather see LU in the Big East but keep an eye on the MAC.

Not sure that field hockey will push the conference to consider other sports as affiliate members. I could be wrong and hope I am wrong.

For the Big East? Not really. Do you think that will make most of the members presidents see us as value based on field hockey? Financially no and even on the national level. Just saying
