the answer is yes, they did...

https://herdzone.com/news/2014/7/29/Mars..._Cato.aspx

and the website they made was catoin14.com....no longer works, but did the same marketing as north texas for their great qb

maybe thunderstruck73 was too young to remember that or wasn't a fan of marshall when they did this promotion

We promoted Brett Favre and Reggie Collier. Totally worthy.

Somehow they need to incorporate this song into their campaign. An early Carole King/Gerry Goffin classic.

I've watch Mason Fine develop over the last few years, and this seems to be an honest assessment of what Fine can do, and what he needs to work on.

Uh, im probably older than you, and I thought it was every bit as ridiculous to promote Cato as I do Fine. So there’s that.

Furthermore, how childish are you to neg rep me for voicing my opinion? I didnt bash anyone or even MENTION any names. Are you so butthurt because someone doesnt kiss UNTs and Fine’s butt that you have to throw a little tantrum? Guess so.

I had actually neg repped you back for being an oversensitive, petulant child, but then thought better of it and removed it. Now i know whenever youre involved in a post that we all have to be uber sensitive to your feelings toward UNT.

He won't win but nothing wrong with promoting him. He's a hell of a college QB for sure.

It's not the most in depth scouting report as he only shows clips from one game and only talks about a few attributes. For every highlight he shows I can think of several better examples of that same trait from other games. However, the points he makes are good and are something that I've definitely noticed.

The most surprising point for me is that right now he considers Fine to be a Day 2 pick (Round 2-3) in the NFL Draft. This is the first time I've heard him possibly going that high in the draft as his size has always been an issue. However, we recently learned that NFL scouts measured him and he's spot on 5'11". In today's NFL that's not as big of an issue as it was even a few years ago.

It'll be fun to see where he eventually goes. We have not had a player drafted in a long time but next draft we could have several.

I agree. There are better examples of Fine's skill sets from other games. I also think he fails to highlight Fine's toughness and leadership skills. In my opinion, Fine is the toughest QB in all of college football. The guy has never been afraid to step into a throw and take a shot. That is the type of QB teammates follow.

Excellent Idea. And, if you don't promote yourself, who will?

This guy gets it.

UNT has nothing to love but everything to gain by promoting him as a Heisman candidate. Rando CFB fans might tune in over the course of the season to watch him.

I think ODU promoted Heinicke as well for his senior season. It's a long shot but it doesn't hurt

How does he become taller? He won't be in the NFL as a QB, maybe Canada.

RE: UNT promoting Fine for Heisman
Marshall has had really only one or two legit heisman contenders (who actually were invited to NYC) in Moss and Pennington. Cato was not anywhere close; not only because of the conference, but also because of ooc games. Yes, he held some NCAA records, but he also had four years to play versus far less from better qbs. IMHO he shouldnt have been promoted, be he sure was fun to watch.

Now we will see how this year pans out, but according to the USA today, Fine is not even a top ten QUARTERBACK, let alone top ten player. Against better competition, like most other CUSA qb’s, hed get flat out crushed. Kinda like he did in CUSA last year.

Uh oh, NTTHOR might neg rep me again for voicing an opposite opinion..

It was reported NFL scouts measured him at 5'11" which can work in today's NFL.

The two times I saw him play in person...he looked smaller. How tall is he in your media guide? 6'2"?

RE: UNT promoting Fine for Heisman
You can promote all you want, but I have severe doubts that anyone from today's C-USA is getting a nod for it.

I had similar hopes for Singletary a year ago. Didn't work out the way I had hoped...
