What the hell? They will let anyone on this board....

Anyhoo, any of you galoots are ever near the Tip of the Mitt up here in Northern Michigan, look me up. Unloaded the ducal estate and am now growing a man bun and rocking a sarong picking morels in the woods up here on the lake.

I am officially the self appointed Illustrious Potentate of the Northern Michigan/Chain of Lakes Bearcat Alumni Association....current membership of 2 (Mrs. Rath and I).

By the way....I cleared the hell out of dodge what, 15 months ago? These are the first calories expended on any type of sports/social media typing since then BTW. Its been a lovely break. The les miserables win or lose were just, well, too damned miserable to waste time getting worked up over. Sports are supposed to be fun, fellas, otherwise its like a root canal performed by that crazy bunny cooker ex girlfriend you just couldn't shake when you drank a bit too much back in the day...but I digress.

Whats in the water down there nowadays, by the way? After a quick spin around the neighborhood everyone seems to be in in full on all is fabulous In Coach We Trust mode. Seems like a lovely development even if some of the worst grumpuses now regularly resemble the happy face from the mayor from Nightmare Before Christmas....I won't yuck their yum. Keep it up.

Vaya con dios! See you on the water for happy hour.

But serious, good to hear you're njoying the great north. Family has a place in Harbor Springs, not sure where exact you are in the chain of lakes, but I'd be happy to grab some Pig's Ribs if I'm up there over this summer.

Guess I’m about an hour and 15 minutes or so from Harbor Springs. That’s a lovely area up that way. Closest metropolis to me is Elk Rapids....15 minutes by water or 30 minutes by asphalt.

Their should probably be a statutory ballot initiative recall for Mark’s malfeasance for not permanently blocking my account, BTW.

Spent a week in Eagle Harbor in the UP a handful of years ago, with a buddy who group up there. Not quite the same place as the mitt, but cut from the same cloth. I suspect that Rath fits in quite perfectly with the delicious characters up thataway.

All is going well in Bearcat land...enjoy that beautiful part of the country! I usually head up to Charlevoix, Petoskey or Cheboygan once or twice a year. Might have to look you up one of these times and have a drink. Don't be a stranger and Go Bearcats!

Rath, great to hear from you again!

You’re right- a good life does not revolve around the actions or decisions of 19 year olds (on the team or on a message board.

Hope to see you sometime soon. Take care.

I guess I don't quite count for membership being closer to the bottom of the mitt just outside of Ann Arbor (part time, at least).

Rath,

Glad to hear from you after your long sabbatical. I think an escape from technology and all of us jacka**es sounds like a good idea. I have been to and around Traverse Bay and Sandy Dunes, that area of the country is without a doubt beautiful, especially this time of the year, the lakes up there are chrystal clear. I hope you get to do all of the hippy sh#t you can up there.

wife wouldn't trade the growing season of home for the woods of the north. i will now sigh. we were engaged (hey geef, get this) on the shores of eagle harbor, 'for the ferry left in the morn' for the isle. it even flurring in marquette, memorial day week, a few days prior. i was like, i could wear flannel and long underwear year round. nice big cozy socks and slippers. fireplace cranking on the fourth of july. finally get that novel completed..... not for everyone i 'pose

dude. you shoulda heard what we was saying about you

Absolutely perfect. Lush, if I learned you were engaged somewhere other than the UP, the back of Willie Nelson's tour bus, or behind Woody Creek Tavern with Hunter S. Thompson, I would have been highly disappointed.
