Time to Vote on the Troll Threads
I want to thank all who entered the competition there we at least 9 entrants but I have narrowed the voting to 3. These three threads had multiple pages of posts so they had something going for them.

Rice Dropping to D3 got buzz on other boards as their posters questioned whether this was so, or in some cases lamented the demotion.

I encourage you all to read the three OP's again before voting. Have fun.

The threads are listed in the Polls with the current page of the CS/CR forum that you can find the thread on. All three of these are on the last three pages of the board.

The Rice Owls are dropping to D3 on page 1
Boston Globe: Ivy League Commissions Expansion Candidate Report page 2
UND/NDSU/USD/SDSU/UM/MSU/UI Presidents Met at Denver Airport page 3

After the polling all of these threads will be locked.

Well congratulations to loki the bubba +3 for the win.
IWokeUpLikeThis +2 for the place.
And Frank the Tank + 1 for the show.

I also want to thank the board for really solid participation with this 52 votes in a poll is pretty strong for this board.

I voted for the Denver meeting, just because the idea of reps from these piddly western and mountain schools and conferences nobody cares about having some Super Secret Clandestine Airport Meeting is top-notch trolling. 07-coffee3

The Rice thread fooled a lot of people. I vote for that one.

Maybe you should start a "Troll Board" to move all such threads.

No need to moderate that board.

I'm all in on the Rice Owls going to D3. (Rice students...are different than your typical Texas student body. If there was a proposal to drop all NCAA sports and start a quidditch team, it would pass in a landslide.)

Agreed.

The Ivy one had potential; don't know if such super wealthy schools need to grow for even more cash. There actually is a growing rift between the athletic operations at the Ivy and Patriot. Both are kind of "stuck" with some football issues, but with different paths. PL desperately wants football members, and uses athletic scholarships to grab FBS games. Meanwhile, Ivy couldn't get the waiver from the NCAA for countable status to also get FBS games.

I don't know...unhappy PLF, stuck Ivy, the challenges of AI, NCAA rules, and wanting more opportunities to play peer schools that you can't because of those regulations...some subtlety in any of those areas could have fooled a lot of people. Then again, I think Patriot is the easier target.

Voted for loki the bubba's thread, even though it completely threw a monkey wrench into both of my threads. I mean how can the SWC reform is the one school that owns the rights to the name moves down? Very crafty, loki. Very crafty.

Rice does not own the rights to the name. We had a thread researching that a couple of years ago and the name is actually now help by Texas State. Not sure how they got it, but legal records are out there to view.
