If the combination of these rule changes actually do open up the lane & provide better spacing as anticipated it should really benefit the talent that has been recruited.

The freedom of movement argument is silly...

There is no rule that says the offense cant shoot from international distance right now...(ask Harris).

Not sure if this is their goal but this rule benefit more athletic teams...

You won't get better spacing unless you have better shooting.

Doesn't matter how far away the 3 point line is.

If your big can pull his man out to guard him and you can hit 38-40% from 3, it will open the driving lanes and you will see the resurrection of the mid range game. The days of a lot of players hitting 45-50% from 3 are gone.

If 22.1 ft is better for reducing congestion, would 25 or 30 ft eliminate it altogether?

Fundamentally strong teams were hitting more and more threes and making it difficult for the athletic big-name schools. So they had to penalize the half nots for finding a way to become competitive with the haves.

But that's the NCAA explanation, FWIW..........

Moving the 3 point like only reduces congestion if teams can be effective from there.

If a team shot 35% from the original 3 and now shots 30% from the new 3 it will get more congested

"According to the committee, moving the 3-point line back will clear the lane for more drives to the rim, make 3-point shots more challenging and therefore less prevalent, and improve offensive spacing." that;s what the NCAA rules committee "experts" are saying.........

Frankly I don't have an opinion other than talented offensive players (shooters) on the perimeter will tend to spread the defense.
