Drug addiction - 70 percent
Affordability of health care - 67
U.S. political system - 52
Gap between rich & poor - 51
Made-up news/info - 50
Violent crime - 49
Climate change - 46
Racism - 40
Illegal immigration - 38
Terrorism - 34
Sexism - 26

Based on those results, America's biggest threat is drug addiction. Although I'm not sure I'd agree with that.

It is a HUGE problem:

From the National Institute on Drug Addiction

Curious how it compares to the 80s. Then again, the drugs in the 80s were stimulants and caused the murder and violent crime rates to soar. These drugs are probably more deadly but sedate you as opposed to making you violent.

Its such a big problem life expectancy is failling, between drugs and hopelessness.

RE: America's Biggest Threat?
It would be interesting to see the political split on this:

Drug addiction - 70 percent
Affordability of health care - 67
U.S. political system - 52 Few Republicans
Gap between rich & poor - 51 Few Republicans
Made-up news/info - 50
Violent crime - 49 Few Democrats
Climate change - 46 Not a lot of Republicans
Racism - 40 Few Republicans
Illegal immigration - 38 Few Democrats
Terrorism - 34 Few Democrats
Sexism - 26 Few Republicans

The biggest threat is the breakdown of the family unit. 36% of kids do not live with two married parents, and 27% live in single-parent households.

Kids who grow up in single-parent households are twice as likely to drop out of high school, 2.5 times as likely to become a teen mom, 3 times as likely to use illegal drugs, and 3 times as likely to be convicted of a crime. They're more likely to have psychological issues and have lower incomes as adults.

And what is the root cause of that? When did that trend start?
