Just love looking at recruiting rankings. Seems like MT is always eating dust (cuurently dead last with 247); but somehow we have accumulated one of the best in conference won-lost records in the last 5 years in CUSA! Not sure what to think of that. But, I've got to think if we did just a little bit better job recruiting; my Raiders might be awesome!

If I worried about recruiting rankings at the end of July, Im afraid I wouldn't be to well.

What I do know is Doc and his staff are scouring Florida, Georgia, N/S Carolina, Virginia and DC for the majority of our talent. They are also looking at Kentucky, Ohio and parts of Tennessee for some hogs on the OL/DL.

Besides the 4 that are known right now my guess is he has 12-16 commitments right now and just told them to hold off from publicizing it. My guess also he as some relationships with a few kids he sees that might get shut out in Feb because the school they were committed to over signed in December.

Then there is that surprise signing you get on signing day, a guy you had no idea was even interested in the school, that happens like every 3 years or so.

North Texas adds another highly rated OLB to their 2020 class....

Jordan Brown a 3 star OLB from Huntsville Texas has committed to the Mean Green. Brown is rated #94 among the top OLB.

It can't be true. A 3 star by 247? Tons of time put into that evaluation. North Texas has 17 commits and all 17 are 3 stars. As you can see this site puts in tons of time evaluating recruits. I bet 18, 19 and 20 are also 3 stars. Like picking C every time in the ACT.

RE: 2020 C-USA Recruiting Thread
It is bizarre that North Texas keeps landing 3-star players despite having a lackluster offer sheet. For example, recently committed Jordan Brown's only other FBS offers are from Colorado St., ULM, and Tulsa... This seems to be the case with many of North Texas' commits. My argument is certainly anecdotal, but I would be curious to see some sort of correlation between more numerous/impressive offers and recruiting ratings. Who knows, maybe North Texas is finding a bunch of diamonds in the rough.

It's Texas. There are plenty of diamonds in the rough. Also, these recruits were rated 3 star players before they committed to UNT. It isn't like they are getting these rating just because we are signing them.

I'll also add.... young 3 star true freshmen with these same kinds of offers are currently pushing senior and junior starters for their jobs at our camp. And, we have a fairly solid core of starters on both sides of the ball. Littrell and the staff must know something, because these players are much more impressive than what UNT is used to signing.

These are valid points. FWIW, I really like Jordan’s film. Seems like one heck of an athlete. Here’s to hoping the conference continues to up its recruiting.

NT is doing better recruiting and logic dictates that more than any recruiting service ranking.

Driven by a much better recruiting organization, first rate facilities, and an improving record; recruiting is just getting better.

Particularly, for Western division conference foes; NT is getting a lot tougher to compete with.

I feel 247 is that way in general and it's not a North Texas thing but simply a Texas thing. If you look at recruits out of that state they're are a LOT of 3*'s in general compared to other states. It's just the nature of the beast for Texas and the recruiting rankings. That state just gets a lot more attention because of the culture there.

I pay more attention to their other offers as well. Why would a player with other offers like Incarnate World or Prairie something be a mid-high 3* but kids with similar level schools in other states have mostly the minimal default rating? In my opinion it's just a resource thing, there's a lot more in Texas.

National early signing day is 1 week away. Are you happy with your school's recruiting class?
LA Tech got another commit today from Joren Dickey 6'-4" 230 LB Trinity Valley CC. I think Nebraska was trying to get him to walk on. https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2...key-257786

Yeah, but how much better are they than a half star transfer?

3 star > half star
4 star > half star

RE: 2020 C-USA Recruiting Thread
We got two commits from JUCO defensive lineman that other schools actually wanted which is a change from years past. A DT offered by FAU, Ark St, Kent,Charlotee, ULL, ULM, USM USA, Toledo, Troy and UAB and a DE offered by Mizzou Colorado Arizona Miss St and Houston. This is what I care about, how many coaches wanted this player more than a random 83 rating.
