UCF stadium has failing areas, report shows; some fixed, school says
https://www.orlandosentinel.com/classifi...story.html

Quote:The decade-old University of Central Florida football stadium is rusted and corroded, with some "immediate life safety concerns," according to an engineering report that says repairs could cost $14 million.

University officials say they have fixed the worst problems and are weighing long-term plans.

According to the report, which was contracted by the university and completed in August, Spectrum Stadium's rust problems have affected the structural integrity of the 45,000-seat venue at the university's main campus in east Orange County, Corrosion affects more than 80,000 square feet of the stadium, it said — four stairways had heavily rusted supports and a potential for "significant section loss" at the time, the TLC Engineering report found. Areas of the stadium's fireproofing were cracked, corroded and graded "failing."

"Left unabated, this presents a significant loss risk of undermining the structural integrity of the stadium framing," according to the 455-page report. Rust is so pervasive that it has "progressed to structural damage" in some locations. Maps specified corrosion "hot" spots throughout the stadium, with more concentrated in lower-bowl areas.

Oh hey look, an article from 2017 that has already been rehashed a dozen times on this site. I wonder what OP's intent was.

Does this count as trolling? I need to be educated by the USF experts.

Seemed quite relevant in light of the discussion about how much money every home game makes.

Less fun when the shoe is on the other foot though, isn't it?

Also relevant since all we hear is how big of a mistake USF is making in playing in our "rented stadium" and how we should follow the UCF model (hell, BC#1 just talked about kicking out schools that don't have an OCS) when maybe it's not the panacea that we keep hearing about...

Oh i'm having a ball. usf fans just proving to be the hypocrites they always pretend not to be.

Let's just disregard that this article is 2 years old, is thrown at UCF by usf fans every chance they get, has since been repaired and even improved upon.

The fact remains, even if our stadium were as bad as you think it is, I'd still much rather have our 2007 honda civic over the 98 lincoln that your dad let's you borrow on the weekends if you do all your chores.

Not sure how that makes me (or "USF fans" in general - paint with broad brush strokes much?) a hypocrite, but then again, I literally had to point out the definition of trolling to you, who should know better as a moderator. You probably shouldn't use words you don't really understand.

And we USF fans are enjoying playing in our rented stadium that attracts Super Bowls, CFP national champions and games against Alabama and Florida, while you ucf fans (if we're going full hypocrite, might as well stoop to the stupid level of somehow using the lower case letter 'insult' that you guys favor) can enjoy hosting Stanford and North Carolina.

You've literally started entire threads designed to antagonize ucf explicitly. Don't talk to me about trolling, because you're like the 4th entry in the dictionary, listed as distant synonyms of "poor trolling".

And we USF fans are enjoying playing in our rented stadium that attracts Super Bowls that usf watches from home, CFP national champions that usf watches from home and games against Alabama and Florida neutral site games in your "home stadium", while you ucf fans (if we're going full hypocrite, might as well stoop to the stupid level of somehow using the lower case letter 'insult' that you guys favor) can enjoy hosting Stanford and North Carolina. We very much do. As well as College Gameday, on our campus. Conference Championships. On our campus. Full Stadiums. On our campus.

If it leads to fair and equitable treatment of both fan bases on here for a change, that would be refreshing. Right now, that's not the case. And you know it.

When USF fans have nothing to go on with regards to actual wins or fans in their stands, this is what they resort to.

When their program is worse in every possible way, they argue their supposed superiority based upon scheduling 2 for 1s (which anyone can do) and trying to knock our stadium when they dont even own one. SAD!

Absolutely no one cares or remembers. Well, no one except for severely butthurt USF fans, who cling to this talking point since your football program has given you nothing to use otherwise to engage in smack talk with UCF fans.

Avoiding the rest, I agree with this, but that's always how it is, regardless of the team name.
Just as we always hope it's our team that plants the dagger in the run's heart. UCF wears the target, long live the king till the king is dead, hopefully at Tulsa's hand.
