Exclamation EMU FB Win/Loss Prediction
Hey All,

Looking to get feedback on an early prediction. New to the threads but always looking for new content around the program.

Keeping my fingers crossed for another bowl game. I think Glass returning with a full year under his belt helps a ton and has a veteran group of receivers with Shaq Vann back for another year. Defensively, we lose a lot up front but CC has gone out and picked up some JUCO 's (edge rusher and LB) which should fill some holes. Add in what I think is the best secondary in the MAC with 2 very winnable non-conference games and I think this is a potentially 8-4 team, possibly 7-5. (Sidenote....predicting MAC games is at times a toss up, I'm fully aware I might be eating crow).

1. @ Coastal Carolina. Prediction: W
2. @ Kentucky. Prediction: L
3. @ Illinois Prediction: L
4. Vs. Central Conn. Prediction: W
5. @ CMU. Prediction: W
6. Vs. Ball State. Prediction: W
7. Vs. WMU. Prediction: W
8. @ Toledo. Prediction: L
9. Vs. Buffalo. Prediction: W
10. @ Akron. Prediction: W
11. @ Northern Illinois. Prediction L
12. Vs. Kent State. Prediction: W

Cheers, let me know what you think!

I'm gonna be bold and go with 8-4. That's probably an aspirational record, but $hit, predictions are free.

RE: EMU FB Win/Loss Prediction
Not gonna try to predict a season record. But I am intrigued by the fact that Kentucky opens against Toledo the week before us and has their first conference game against Florida the week after us. I think it would be very easy for Kentucky to look past the Eagles, especially if they handle Toledo easily, and open the door for an upset, and a win of some note for the Eagles. I'm not willing to write that game off as a loss.

Heart says 8-4.
Years over over predicting tells me that typically equates to 5-7 or 6-6.

Awfully BOLD prediction Alex as you predicted no wins or losses. Obviously I say that facetiously, but what you have presented is probably spot on.

I love coach Creighton but he plays the game in the "safe mode" always. He prepares well and is always competitive but once he has a lead he becomes ultra conservative and often allows the opponent to catch up and make the game close, much like Jim Tressel used to do at Ohio State. Toledo last year? Thus we have a whole lot of overtimes and one score wins and losses.

Harkema changed his base offense to the wishbone for the California Bowl when we upset San Jose State. Risks like that, are not in Creighton's DNA. Incredibly close games are the result, the last time EMU entered the fourth quarter obviously beaten was early in 2016! As a fan I have been loving it.

8-4 for no other reason that they are due for some lucky breaks. That said 2 of the losses come to Kentucky and Illinois. EMU is not going to surprise anyone anymore, and probably not good enough to actually compete.

11-3 with + MAC Championship + Bowl game victory.

We will see the depth that this staff has developed this throughout this tenure.

We throw a lot more money at CC but Creighton leaves for UCONN or Illinois.

We hire a Mississippi State coach Andrew Breiner.

Any other questions?

Dear JonesGoddard,
If, Creighton leaves for Connecticut he would be crazy. I know it would be similar to when he arrived at Eastern. It would be a rebuilding job, and maybe he would like that, but I just think he wouldn't want to do that again. It also takes him out of the Midwest area where I think he is comfortable.

So i think about this A LOT. CC (who blocked my on twitter for no reason BTW) has coached in indiana, iowa, kansas and michigan. he's FROM ohio. the schools it would make sense for him to go to (based on geography) :
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Mizzou
Illinois
Indiana
Cincinnati
Purdue
Louisville
Kentucky

Most of those schools have coaches who ARENT on the hot seat. I sort of feel good about him coming back next year even if he has a good year.

Now if he goes 12-1 or something bonkers like that - all bets are off.

I agree with pretty much everything here, but idk how much time CC actually spent in Ohio before going to college? I know he grew up in Washington state, but I don't remember for how long. But going to Huskies games and the 12th Man in Seattle were part of his childhood.

But yeah, family really matters to CC, and I can't see him leaving the midwest. Doesn't strike me as a guy who's itching to leave, and I think he has a lot that he wants to prove in Ypsi. (unless, like Dan said, something crazy happens)

Graduated from Kenyon College with a bunch of records.

Athlon's MAC predictions

https://www.google.com/amp/s/athlonsport...ions%3famp

Key points:

Rank us as having the best DB unit but not in the top 6 in RB, WR, DL, OL, or LB

4th in the MAC West- 6-6, 5-3 in conference

2 out of 3 of their writers pick us as their sleeper team and the same 2 out of 3 writers pick Mike Glass as Breakout Player

Yeah I think our DB's will be a strength. I think we will have some sleepers on defense. I expect Simeon to have a break out year. I hear he has had a good Spring. Also watch out for Burks. Offensively I think having Vann back is huge and like many other positions I feel like our talent is there, but is young.

FWIW, Athlon projected us to go 4-8 (3-5 MAC) last season.

Athlon is usually garbage when it comes to the MAC.
