Good get. The academies usually bring out decent local crowds and are appealing to tv. Getting that Navy game is very good considering three OOC games are spoken for per year between AF, Army and ND.

RE: Marshall Inks Home/Home With Army
We still need 1 game in 2021 and 2 in 2022.

This years OOC is:
08/31 - VMI
09/06 - at Boise State
09/14 - Ohio
09/28 - Cincinnati

The VMI game was done to get Elmore's year back from VMI because VMI was refusing to release him from his scholarship and tried to extort Gay Elmore out of 250,000.

Next Years OOC is:
09/05 - at East Carolina
09/12 - Pitt
09/19 - at Ohio
09/26 - Boise State

Thank you Marshall!!!!!

I hope this means we were finally able to drop that 2025 Army game off our schedule. We have 3 road OOC games that season, and I don't like that at all.

Marshall couldn't add Army on Sept. 13, 2025. The Herd are scheduled to play ECU on that day. Army still has open dates on the 2025 schedule, so we may not be off the hook after all.

Army might be willing to let UNT out of the ’25 game, if UNT can make it worth their while. I’m honestly not sure what it would take. Obviously, Army is a popular opponent and they would t have any difficulty getting a replacement 6 years in advance. But it would have to be a home game for Army.

Playing Army in '25 would not be an issue if our previous AD had not signed us up for a body-bag game against Wisconsin. It was the last OOC game he signed us up for, and the last body-bag game we have scheduled. It was to be played this season, but our new AD got Wisconsin to reschedule it for 2025, so we could sign Cal to a home and home series. Unfortunately, it will mean we play 3 road games in '25 (Wisconsin, SMU, & Army). Of the 3, Army is the one we will cut loose. I expect the Army game to be replaced by an FCS buy-a-win home game.

But, I am glad to see Marshall sign Army. It is a high quality home and home series. 04-cheers

Excellent scheduling. Way to go Marshall. Every CUSA program should strive to play the Service Academies on a Home and Home basis. Except for MT playing Navy in a Bowl ; I see no evidence our AD has even approached Army, Navy or the AFA to do something like this. Very Envious!

Not to derail the topic but I remember that Armed Forces Bowl. I believe it got pretty chippy in that game, and several MT fans accused Navy of playing dirty.

I remember when Army was in CUSA. They took a whipping every game and the fans you'd hope they'd bring out of the woodwork to support just weren't that noticeable. Maybe it just wasn't special because you played them every year.

Home games vs Boise and Pitt...that's some pretty good scheduling for a CUSA team. I think USM is still feeling the effects of selling our home Nebraska game back to them in 2013 so we could pay off Ellis Johnson. We will have had 3 seasons with only 5 home games since then.

There are really only 3 teams in the MAC that I would really like to play, Ohio, Miami OH and Toledo or Tuck Foledo. In my opinion Ohio should be played every year in every sport the 2 universities have in common and I would like to see Miami OH and Toledo rotated.

Besides the Western Michigan series that is coming up the only other team that I would care to see from the MAC is NIU again. The rest of the MAC is just BLAH. Most of the MAC West we don't have a history with, teams like CMU, Ball State, EMU we have only played 3-5 times. Believe it or not Marshall and Western Michigan have met 36 times but not since 2004.

Tuck Foledo and Marshall had some wars in the late 90s and early 2000's.

Wars is a mild term for the tussles these two programs had in that time span...
I still remember the snowy night in Huntington back in 97 when Moss and Pennington took over the game in the second half...
Froze my arse off that night ...04-cheers
