RE: CWS
Auburn beats North Carolina to punch its ticket to the CWS.
I think the only SR still going is Ole Miss vs Arkansas.

RE: CWS
Well 3 of the 4 who upset #1 seeds in the regional won superregionals. Michigan and FSU were #3 regional seeds and Auburn #2 in region. #3 regional seed Duke lost in 3 games to Vanderbilt.
So making the CWS are #2, #6, #7, #8 and either #5 or #12 along with Michigan (beat #1 UCLA), FSU (beat #13 LSU after knocking out #4 UGA in regional) and Auburn (beat #14 UNC after knocking out #3 Georgia Tech in regional).

We swept Michigan earlier this season in Lubbock but our game vs Michigan in Omaha will be tough. At this point in the season all schools are playing great baseball if they make it to Omaha. I will be happy if we beat a very good Michigan baseball team on Saturday.
Congrats to the Wolverines for making the CWS.
OT: We beat Michigan and Michigan St on our way to the basketball NC game.

Correct - A Sun Belt conference team has never won the College World Series while a member of the Sun Belt.
Coastal won the CWS and officially joined the Sun Belt eight hours later. Hell of a day for the Chants.
And since then, have only won two NCAA Tourney games (LIU and FAMU) while being eliminated early (even when they hosted).
No matter what they do, that banner isn’t coming down (unless it’s found out that they cheated, of course).

RE: CWS
Arkansas just defeated Ole Miss to advance to the CWS.
Feel good for Arkansas, as they were one out away from the title last year and had that bizarre play where three guys let a fly ball fall between them or something, and then Oregon State rallied to win the title. At least they get a chance at redemption.

RE: CWS
So we now have the complete CWS field:
Arkansas
Vanderbilt
FSU
Michigan
Texas Tech
Louisville
Mississippi State
Auburn
SEC ... 4
ACC ... 2
B12 .... 1
B1G .... 1
Probably pretty rare for no PAC teams to make the CWS.

Yes, congrats! My wife [Auburn grad] is a happy camper after several UNC fans talked some smack at work before the series began. Went home for lunch today to watch the opening inning and left back for work with the Tigers up 13-0. Auburn hasn't made the CWS since 1997...

Congratulations to Auburn. FWIW, i remember the 1997 CWS, as LSU had a powerhouse team and swept to the championship. IIRC, Auburn had the old "two and a barbecue" experience that year. Hopefully they will do much better at this CWS.
Also, FWIW, the only other team in this year's CWS that was in the 1997 CWS is Mississippi State. The Bulldogs went 0-2 that year as well.

Still trolling aren't you. Auburn is extremely fortunate to be in. We lost 1 starter in practice prior to the season opener. We lost Owens early in the season and just got him back (starter #2) and at the end of the season Burns (starter #3) has developed a sore arm and has seen limited action. We got through regionals and supers on the bullpen alone and upon 2 bullpen pitchers that have developed into pretty good starter material (Anderson and Fitts). I hope for better but wouldn't be surprised if we are out in 2 because all of the schools that made it hit well, but 5 of them have solid pitching at all 3 starter positions. Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Texas Tech and Michigan have displayed solid starting pitching and decent bullpens.
Florida State, Auburn, and Louisville have been riding emotional momentum and they may or may not ride it some more.
To win it all you have to have some luck and you have to have non stars step up their games. But it is at least what makes college baseball so much fun.

Nope, not at all. Very happy Auburn got in this year, and thought memories of 1997 would be interesting to some.

Michigan is amazing, an unranked team from the B1G, a conference that hasn't done anything in the CWS in generations, going out to California and beating #1 UCLA to make the CWS, and now beating #8 Texas Tech to immediately enter the winner's bracket.
In football, I "hate" Michigan, but it's hard not to root for this baseball club.

What I've always wondered about is why it has been this way. I mean, I know, warm-weather schools have an obvious advantage in an outdoor sport that starts in mid-February.
But, from 1953 - 1966, the B1G won 5 baseball national titles. The B1G was clearly a baseball power right up there with the SWC and the PAC 8. Then suddenly, after Ohio State's 1966 win, that just totally stopped. Why?

Can't keep the good recruits at home. Hell, Arkansas alone has three kids from Illinois, I'm pretty sure? I haven't looked at other rosters but I'm sure there are Midwest kids on theirs too.
