That's going to require an awful lot of profiling. I thought the democrats were against crap like that.

Profiling is evil, unless it allows you to bypass the constitution and imprison your political enemies.

RE: Bipartisan legislation: TAPS
Seriously, though.

In the recent past we've discussed the merits of denying access to guns for those who have been diagnosed with mental illness.

I vehemently oppose this primarily because I know how this will eventually be manipulated and abused. Those who want to restrict gun ownership will simply use legislation to broaden the scope of "mental illness."

You're a combat vet? You must have some level of PTSD. Mentally ill.

You're pro-life? Metally ill.

etc...

But this legislation goes way beyond... it strives to profile every individual and assign a score.

What comments have you made on Facebook, Twitter, etc?

Have you expressed an anti-immigrant view point? That's bad.
Do you deny institutional racism? That's bad.
Are you pro-life. That's really bad.

You must be some kind of right-wing extremist. It's time to lock you up because, well, you might just go ballistic.

Yet another reason I have avoided Facebook, Twitter, etc. and am always thoughtful about Internet searches.
