National Football League Playoffs Expansion?
The top seeds from each conference -- the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots -- have the week off.

Instead of joining those teams on a bye, however, the No. 2 seed Green Bay Packers are hosting the No. 7 Philadelphia Eagles in the first round. The AFC's No. 2 seed is also in action, so the Denver Broncos are preparing to host the No. 7 Houston Texans.

Wildcard Weekend:
Saturday
AFC 2 vs 7 @1 PM
AFC 3 vs 6 @4 PM
AFC 4 vs 5 @7 PM

Sunday
NFC 2 vs 7 @1 PM
NFC 3 vs 6 @4 PM
NFC 4 vs 5 @7 PM

Divisional Weekend:
Saturday
NFC 1 vs 4/5 winner early game
NFC 2/7 winner vs 3/6 winner late game

Sunday
AFC 1 vs 4/5 winner early game
AFC 2/7 winner vs 3/6 winner late game

RE: National Football League Playoffs Expansion?
Is the NFL still discussing playoff expansion since that "Dec 31, 2014" article?

Just no. Leave the playoff as is. Eliminate two preseason games, go to 20 week schedule adding two extra bye weeks. Play the Super Bowl President's Day weekend.

The NFL will do something for the next round of TV contracts to squeeze more money out of the networks.

Might be adding an extra game or two to the regular season, might be increasing the number of playoff teams from 12 to 14.

What they really should do first is add a second bye week so that every team playing on a Thursday has the Sunday off before their Thursday game.
