“MAC replaces ACC as Big Ten’s opponent in Quick Lane Bowl in new bowl cycle from 2020-25”

That's the only change that he made. Apparently the deal wasn't finalized yet.

You know---I had a feeling it was off. About a week ago there was an interview with Aresco where he specifically stated that the Quick Lane Bowl was interested in the AAC--but we just didn't have room for it because we can only have 7 ties. If thats correct---its absolutely shocking that the AAC would toss away an opportunity to have a bowl vs a Big10 opponent just to hang onto 3 low rent garbage ESPN bowls against random 6-6 G5 teams. lol....I cant even begin to fathom the logic that would make sense of the thought process there.

Clarification on the Outback Bowl:

The Outback Bowl will continue hosting one team from the SEC and another from the Big Ten through the January 2026 bowl game. The contract extension also allows for a team from the ACC or Notre Dame to participate when a Big Ten team participates in the Orange Bowl (when that game isn’t part of the College Football Playoff).

https://www.tampabay.com/sports/florida-...ll-tie-in/

The Citrus Bowl, which formerly had this type of arrangement, will now be simply SEC vs. Big Ten for the next cycle.

RE: 2020-2025 bowl tie-ins
Assuming P12 and ACC pull no surprises. The P5 vs G5 official bowls will be

Birmingham SEC vs AAC
Boston ACC vs AAC
Military ACC vs AAC
Detroit B12 vs MAC
LA Bowl P12 vs MWC
Armed Forces/First Responder B12 vs G5

My guess ACC and P12 announce tomorrow. Then G5 conferences announce soon after.

Analysis for G5 vs P5 (Tie Ins only)

Winner - MAC to get an official P5 Bowl Opponent in Detroit Bowl.

Neutral - MWC lost Vegas but gets Los Angeles to replace vs P12. SBC remains no P5 opponents

Loser 1 - CUSA now having no official P5 tie-in
Loser 2 - AAC hoping for five P5 tie-ins every year. Appears the official P5 tie-ins remain the same 3 bowls from 2014-2019. AAC fans definitely were mislead by Aresco on improved AAC bowl lineup. Unless they consider some G5 vs G5 bowls improving but seems to go against P6 narrative.

FIFY. You have NO source for stating AAC will not be in Gasparilla other than Fbsschedules. FBSschedules is not a source. They don't have reporters/journalists. They simply copy and paste from other sources. I have two that AAC will be in Gasparilla. Mike Aresco...stated on radio interview recently (and he should know), and Brett McMurphy, just one of the best CFB journalists out there. Not to mention the Gasparilla bowl is played in USF's home stadium and their bowl director is a former high level USF athletic department employee.

I think my sources are a lot better than yours. And most would agree with me.

The same McMurphy that said AAC will be in Detroit Bowl? The same McMurphy stating ACC, AAC and SEC will be in Gasparilla? I will say the SEC did not list any conference opponents in their official bowls for 2020-2025. We will see when the ACC announces officially. Which I have stated multiple times that the P12 and ACC have not officially announced the 2020-2025 bowls. Personally, I put more stock in FBSchedule.com over Aresco and McMurphy.

Who at fbsschedules routinely breaks EVERY single major CFB story. Oops, they don't have any.

And yes, McMurphy got one wrong. But he's also gotten over 100 right over the years. His sources are lot better than fbsschedules. LMAO. They don't have any sources. They didn't even state they had any sources in their article. All they do is copy and paste information from other sites. What don't you understand about that.

Once again, McMurphy stated ACC, AAC vs SEC in Gasparilla. Until ACC announces their tie-ins, will not know officially. Which I stated multiple times that P12 and ACC have not announced. From the official SEC announcement "The Birmingham Bowl and Gasparilla Bowl will collaborate on the selection of teams for these games." Seem like no collaboration would be needed if the AAC was tied into both games.

Now, I could see ACC/AAC split Birmingham/Gasparilla like B10/SEC doing with Vegas/Belk. Still does not really change the AAC P5 Tie-ins being only three a year. Don't see how that would be an improvement for the AAC but that way you would be right about AAC in Gasparilla. Again, not like we are talking about a life or death situation. It is just college football. 04-cheers

The Quick Lane Bowl needs to be moved to Charleston, South Carolina as the Medal of Honor Bowl (smaller stadium) or something if they really have to have more games.
There's no where in Charleston to play now that The Citadel tore down half their stadium with plans only to have 15k seating.

Yeah I just seen that now. Playing at a 21K stadium for a bowl game in Charleston would have been a good winter destination bowl game IMO. It sounds like Detroit might be bringing back the MAC at least...

If that's true, that's a bit of a comedown for the ACC, as the Citrus Bowl is a bigger bowl, both money and prestige-wise, compared to the Outback Bowl.

I had thought that getting that backup provision in the Citrus Bowl when the B1G plays in the Orange Bowl was quite a coup for the ACC, but now it is apparently gone.

I think its more that the B1G and SEC are trying to protect the Citrus as a cash cow.

Outback is now a target for CFP expansion since it could do much better financially as a CFP game.

This may have been the plan all along(?). At least now the ACC has a decent bowl in Tampa, instead of 2 bowls in Orlando.

Yeah, I see it as a trade off from B10 for ACC out of Detroit and into Holiday.
Also, with Outback 2 slots, don't think ACC can be tied to Gasparilla all 6 in the cycle.

FWIW----I listened to an interview with McMurphy last night and he said the Pac12 has not yet signed with the Indy Bowl. After listening to him---I get the impression that some of the line up he posted amounts to educated guesses based on conversations with his sources. For instance, him placing the Pac12 in the Indy Bowl is based on the two having serious discussions---though he admits nothing has yet been signed and there is no agreement between the two at this time.

As for St Pete, its worth noting that the official release from the SEC does not address who their opponent will be in St Pete....so I guess we will have to wait until the ACC announces its new bowl line up.

There won't be an opponent for St. Pete because the game has moved to Tampa.
