From McNeese St website:
https://mcneesesports.com/sports/baseball/schedule/2020
Friday - McNeese St vs Valpo
Saturday - McNeese St vs USM
Sunday - McNeese St vs Valpo, McNeese St vs USM
From Valpo website:
http://www.valpoathletics.com/baseball/schedule/
Friday: Valpo vs McNeese St
Saturday: Valpo vs USM (listed twice so appears a DH?)
Sunday: Valpo vs McNeese St
Something isn't adding up as neither has us playing them on Friday yet it's appearing like a triple header on Saturday which we know isn't happening
Friday - McNeese State vs Valpo
Saturday - Valpo vs USM, then McNeese State vs USM
Sunday - Valpo vs McNeese State, then McNeese State vs USM
I could be wrong about Saturday, but I seriously doubt the team from Indiana plays the late game on Sunday. If I had to guess, the hosts would rather play us than Valpo for the late games so as to maximize attendance.
Given how busy I-10 and I-12 is, that’s going to be a long bus trip for our guys.
I was under the assumption each team played 4 games (2 games vs each opponent) as that's the only way we play 56 total. Each team should have 1 DH day and 2 days of single games. My guess would be a typo on Valpo's schedule and "maybe" should play us on Friday
Friday: USM vs Valpo, McNeese vs Valpo,
Saturday: McNeese vs Valpo, McNeese vs USM
Sunday: USM vs Valpo, USM vs McNeese
Friday and Saturday games at 2 pm and 6 pm with Sunday games at 11 am and 3 pm?

RE: 2019-20 offseason baseball discussion
Baseball finally announces the schedule with the only change that I can tell is we are only playing 3 games at McNeese as we play them on Friday and Sunday while playing Valpo once on Saturday. With that being said that puts us back at 55 games. The McNeese St weekend is all mixed up on paper then as the McNeese website has them only playing Valpo on Friday yet our website has us playing McNeese on Friday. Then on Saturday our schedule has us playing Valpo while McNeese's website has them (McNeese) playing us. Guess they'll get all that figured out in the next month or so.

What frustrates me is that it’s not like there aren’t good teams looking for weekend series. Heck, Michigan was looking for a series and we didn’t even try. Berry is just looking to pad his wins so it looks good on paper. Meanwhile, we’ll get smoked against decent pitching because we haven’t seen it all year...again.

And just realized it's a good possibility there is no spring game football with baseball DH this year unless the spring game is pushed back a few weeks.
April 9-11 - UTSA (Thursday through Saturday due to Easter)
April 17-19 - at Charlotte
April 24-26 - Rice
The spring game is usually the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in April but I don't see us doing it on Easter weekend while we are away the next weekend. I guess time will tell.

Was looking and see where USM updated the schedule and we are playing 4 games at McNeese after all which gets us the 56 games
Friday: USM vs Valpo at 2:00 pm; McNeese St vs Valpo at 6:00 pm
Saturday: USM vs Valpo at 1:00 pm, USM vs McNeese St at 4:00 pm
Sunday: USM vs McNeese St at 1:00 pm, McNeese vs Valpo at 4:00 pm
We are the 1st game each day so our games should start on time weather permitting which is a good thing for Friday and Sunday so we aren't waiting around in the event of extra innings.

Weakest schedule I can remember, new field with a mickey mouse plastic pitcher's mound - stage is set for a baseball to TTT it.

the 'dirt' is mustard baby turd coloring.....what a joke
why the mound and warning track aren't real dirt is beyond my ability to comprehend...
injuries on the mound and the OF are a cummin' like slidin' off a gold tooth....

WE DON'T HAVE A DIRT MOUND? Is this a travel ball stadium where they play girl's softball also and have to bring out a big rubber titty with a pitcher's plate on it?

To borrow a line from Ace, you guys beat all sometimes.
The artificial mound/infield/warning track isn’t some new thing we’re testing out. Tulane’s & WKU’s fields have been like that for 3-4 years since they both went to artificial turf. It’s a different kind of surface than the rest of the field, more like synthetic clay than synthetic grass.

Who have we lost in offseason that we expected to be good for us this year? Or have we at all?

Cody Carroll got hurt in summer ball and is out for the season. I vaguely remember someone mentioning one other player but can’t remember which player

Can't say that is too terrible. For a cape guy, seems Carroll continuously underperformed for us. I just want to see Gabe pump 97 all year long.

RE: 2019-20 offseason baseball discussion
Have you all noticed Rice's OOC schedule? Four weekend series against Texas Tech, Texas, UC Irvine, and Missouri State. Three midweek games against Houston and one midweek game against Texas A&M.
I really respect that, especially coming off a bad season by their standards. It would have been easy for them to say, "Our players are fragile and we must schedule weak OOC teams to play this year to build their confidence." Good seasons or bad, they schedule OOC games the way a program does that believes in exceptionalism and has faith that their players want to compete with the best.

Different mentality of coaches. One wants to play the best. The other wants to pad their record.

Starting lineup appears to be
C - Davis
1B - McGillis (SO)
2B - Guidry
SS - Dickerson (FR)
3B - Lynch (SO)
LF - Montenegro
CF - LeBlanc (SO) Blaylock, or Trimble (FR)
RF - Norris (FR)
SP - Shepherd (SO) and Powell, then either Best (FR) Lewis or Och (SO)
Closer - Stanley
Lots of freshmen and sophomores starting or getting significant action.

I'm here now. It is all turf. No clay. Grass portion is just "grassy". The mound is turf. No true pitcher's plate.

Yeah, the “clay” part is shorter and put together differently, i.e., less “grassy.” It’s supposed to play virtually identically to real clay.
Oregon State’s been playing on this stuff for over a decade. They started with just the infield then converted the rest in 2015 I think it was. Texas has had it since 2016, Notre Dame since 2014, and Louisville since 2013. Tennessee switched to it last year. If it’s working for them, I can’t see why we’d have problems playing on it. Well, at least none because of playing on it. You still gotta throw, catch, and hit.
