Do you have a theory as to why ticket sales are slower than they have been in the past?

I haven't see where they are slower, but assuming that is true:

A) College Football Attendance is trending down
B) We have had back-to-back non winning seasons
C) (I assume)The rules with donations/tax savings from donating to the University/athletics. Now, I cannot write off season tickets on my company account and not sure i get much of a benefit from donations.
D) The newness of the program has worn off.

I would assume season ticket sales will be fine due to the new stadium, but that remains to be seen.

What about the $250 or $300 fees? Think they had an effect?

Sure, the big donors that bought big blocks of tickets for friends. A fair amount that went unused. But now more of our prime seats will be filled.

I agree with this. But also think now we will have more empty seats and they won’t be mostly paid for like they were before.

That solves another big issue we had with the old stadium and the old ticket structure; barrier for entry limited our ability to grow our ticketbase. We mostly only had bad seats available in the awful north endzone. ODAF cited those seats were where they saw the most turnover. With the new structure and stadium, we have good seats available dispersed throughout the stadium.

Now, it's just up to our staff to do the work and find new fans.

For those that plan on lowering or stopping their ODAF donations, just remember that your parking for tailgating will continue to depend on the size of your donation.

I figure that if people keep bailing, eventually folks who used to be in the garages will be upgraded to surface/tailgating lots. Though if ODU keeps removing tailgating spaces that may not happen. Tailgating is critical to building the fanbase and selling tickets though, so I hope they find more spots.

Ditto. We just buy a garage spot. But, my firm usually has a nice tailgate in Silver lot so no need for me to throw my own tailgate anymore. That and doing all the work with my family was a lot. Soon as the kids are grown all that might change.

Right now there isn't much of it to entice that segment. That's the Fear of Missing Out. Until there is the fear they might not be able to get tickets and miss out on the next big VT upset that's where we are. It's up to the product to build that demand back at this point. Let's hope that's the problem we have in the near future!

Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner! Winning always solves lots of problems.

We all need to go out and support this team. I am hoping and praying the JUCO experiment plus the coaching changes will be the necessary adjustments needed to get this program back on track.
