"But a faltering economy or a giant scandal could change everything." Democrats have put all their eggs in the giant scandal basket for two years. If that continues to unravel, will they shift their attention to doing things to tank the economy? Worked in 2008, wouldn't put it past them to try it again--although Trump may take care of it for them with his tariffs.

Color me dissatisfied with both sides right now.

Couldn't get past the first paragraph without finding a lie. "President Donald Trump has a low approval rating.". Uh, it's at 48% in one very recent poll that was posted here just last week.

No, I'm not, and if you were paying attention instead of being a jerk, you would know that.

I don't like him, but I don't dislike him as much as I dislike the socialist/commie/collectivist democrats. I'll probably vote for Justin Amash if he runs as the libertarian, even though I disagree with his recent statements about impeachment. But I think that was just political posturing, kind of like when Bill Weld said in 2016 that he would not prosecute Hillary. That being said, I'd still rather see 4 more years of Trump that 5 minutes of any democrat in the field. So I'm probably in the, "Libertarian if I can. Trump if I must," category--although I must admit that if Trump needs me in Texas, he's probably a lost cause nationally.

Just for entertainment, I occasionally go back and watch the 7 minute short version of the Young Turks election special.

IMO, ultimately the 2020 Presidential Election will be a referendum on President Trump THE PERSON vs. his opponent THE PERSON.

Policy or results won't matter quite as much.

2012 and 2016 were personality-driven elections as well. 2008 was the last one which was more policy/results driven.

Would a graph help you visualize where 48 is on a 100 scale?

Every one since 1968 except for 2000 has been, "Its the economy stupid." 1968 was about sanity and the war and only partly the economy. 2000 was about sanity and decency.

Romney didn't try to convince anyone he wouldn't repeat the mistakes of 2007.

Blue collar workers were suffering and dying at younger ages. Trump was the only one who had paid attention to them since 1988.

Rassmussen 47 now.

You mentioned Obama. Here's his comparison numbers to Trump plus the other last 12.
