He was a very high 4-star. 0.98 rating, ranked #37 in country. The type of player UC barely ever got with Micky Cronin at the helm...

Even taking your comment at face value, UC still gets them from time to time. And there were unique circumstances around Kyle Guy that should have made him the type that UC could have landed. I don't know why it's so hard to see why people would be frustrated. That is, of course, unless you just don't want to see.

I thought the Guy story was debunked a while ago.

While he grew up a UC fan, it was well known that he was looking to go to a much more prestigious academic institution.

That's the story. He ended up being an American studies major and clearly plans to play pro ball. Would it really not have been worth it to try and sell him on an Engineering degree or something? Hell put him in DAAP. That'd have been neat.

If that's the story, his decision to visit Xavier seems odd. I think the fact that MC didn't even try or even offer the guy, just goes to show he suffered from a serious case of recruiting pessimism.

debunked by who?

he had relatives who posted on twitter saying he grew up a UC fan
and Mick never reached out to him

who knows if they would have landed him. Mick should have atleast tried

Mick was good @ identifying under the radar talent but sucked @ landing top talent bc he never tried

STATEMENT FROM MIKE BOHN, UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

"After a thorough review of the background and character of prospective University of Cincinnati men’s basketball student-athlete Zach Harvey, he signed a grant-in-aid agreement to enroll for the summer term at UC. Zach’s behavior two years ago while a 16-year old was not representative of the standards to which we hold our current student-athletes, but during a recent on-campus visit, he took full ownership of his actions without making any excuses.

"Zach recognizes it is a privilege to be a student-athlete at UC and it’s our expectation he will be an upstanding member of our campus community. We are working with Zach on a plan to ensure continued personal development along with his success as a student-athlete. We will hold him accountable to this process and work to evaluate his progress. He is aware of these expectations and accepts he will be held to an even higher standard than his peers and there will be zero tolerance for any behavior during his time at UC which is inconsistent with our department’s guiding principles. Zach is committed to earning the trust of his teammates, coaches, fellow students and athletics staff."

This is a common sense statement and likely more than one would expect from our peers (meaning P5 and AAC) given the casual fan likely wouldn't know about the circumstances. Good on UC, and I hope they're serious about it.

I don't feel like looking it up. Someone tell me what he did at 16.

Heaven knows 16 year olds never do anything stupid.

Got busted with a nude photo of a 15-year-old classmate. I suspect if you searched all the phones of high schoolers these days, half of them would be charged with the same crime.
