I don't know for certain, but i'd guess is no different than any other year.
My thoughts exactly.

Some more schedule news, playing ECU 3 times this upcoming year. March 11 in Wilmington at 6, April 14 in Kinston at 6:30 (Grainger Stadium), and April 21 in Greenville at 6:30. Also, the third weekend of the season the boys will head up to Lexington Kentucky to take on the Wildcats, February 28 - March 1

RE: UNCW Baseball in 2020
I like the idea of putting ECU on the schedule 3 times. Mainly, because they're a very high quality opponent in our back yard. The overhead costs to play them is minimal. We gain a lot from those games. Additionally, putting them on the schedule more like this is a good idea because it seems like every year we have OOC games that just get cancelled off the schedule outright due to weather. More opportunities means higher chances we play them multiple times. Great move for both clubs.

RE: UNCW Baseball in 2020
Playing ECU 3 times could be great and it might be a nightmare. If you win 2 or even 3 games its great but a sweep by them could cost UNCW an at large if they need it. They look to be loaded for a run and if they can come up with a middle infield that gets it done I really like their chances. Could be Smith at SS and Croom at 2nd base. The rest of the spots look to be covered with maybe a LF spot open to whoever hits the ball.

Do you have Wells figured into this lineup?

Loaded or not you take the chances you have to boost your RPI. Playing them 3x and losing a few is better than beating sisters of the poor.

We complain all the time about not having the opportunity to play top level teams at home in basketball. We have that opportunity in baseball. Why would anyone think it's a bad idea?

Agree, this is the one major sport in which we regularly play good P5-6 teams.

No complaints here. The more the better.

You don't get better by playing scrubs. You get better elevating yourself to better competition and beating them.

Especially since you have so many baseball games in a season. Lose a couple bad games and you can easily make up for it at other times. It's not like College Basketball or College Football where a bad loss or 2 can make or break your chances at an at-large bid. And the Committee always understands that even the best teams can lose 1/3 over a weekend to an inferior squad.

Playing ECU 3x is good because they're always good and a win will look good. If we get there, we almost always play well in Regionals until the final game. Would be good to get past a Regional for once.

I agree 100% that you need to play these guys but it comes with a risk factor. Its not like they can't be beat and this year UNCW could sweep them and that would be huge.

Wells has a shot as maybe a DH if he hits the ball but there will be tough competition for ABs and you better start fast I think or get left out. He has some power but it comes with way to many Ks-need to cut down on that for sure. No clue why he left HPU.

Evans, Yip Homer To Lead UNCW At Coastal

CONWAY, S.C. – Home runs off the bats of freshmen Ron Evans and Matt Yip lifted UNCW to an 8-2 win over Coastal Carolina in the second half of a 14-inning exhibition on Sunday at Springs Brooks Stadium.

The Chanticleers won the first seven inning on the strength of a three-run first inning and a five-run third to take an 8-2 lead.

In the first seven innings, Coastal Carolina jumped in front with three runs on five hits, with Morgan Hyde's two-run single highlighting the first-inning outburst.

Cole Weiss doubled in a run in the third and scored one batter later following a passed ball as UNCW trimmed its deficit to 3-2.

CCU answered with five in the bottom of the frame on a two-run homer from Nick Lucky and a bases-clearing single off the bat of Brian Port.

Trevor Marsh rounded out UNCW's scoring with an RBI infield single in the fourth.

In the back end of the game, Evans slammed a two-run shot to left in the first inning.

Coastal, however, answered with a pair of runs in the third via a bases loaded hit batter and a walk to tie the game at 2-all.

Yip broke the deadlock in the sixth when he homered on a 1-2 offering with a man on, giving the Seahawks a 4-2 lead.

The Seahawks added four in their half of the seventh to compete the scoring for an 8-2 final. Kevin Pitarra opened the inning's scoring with a RBI single and Brooks Baldwin added another RBI single. Matt Suggs drove in the final runs with a 2-run single later in the inning.

The Seahawks conclude their fall practice this week with the Blue-Teal series beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m. The series continues Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.

UNCW Announces 2020 Baseball Schedule

Slate features 34 home games and road series at Kentucky

WILMINGTON, N.C. – First-year Head Coach Randy Hood has announced the 2020 baseball schedule for UNCW, a schedule that features 34 home games and a weekend trip to Southeastern Conference member Kentucky.

"We'll continue to play a schedule that features many of the top programs in the state and the region," said Hood. "We want to put ourselves in as good a position as possible for the postseason."

UNCW opens the season hosting a pair of conference championship finalists in Dayton (Atlantic 10) and Bryant (Northeastern) on Feb. 14-16.

Highlighting the 56-game slate are home-and-home series with NCAA regional participants Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Campbell and NC State. The Seahawks will visit Kentucky for three games on Feb. 28-Mar. 1.

The ECU series will be a three-game set with each team hosting a game and a third game being played at historic Grainger Stadium in Kinston, N.C. Grainger, which is the home of the Down East Wood Ducks of the Carolina League, was the site of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament from 1995 through 1999. The Seahawks and Pirates also met twice there in the 2004 NCAA Kinston Regional.

Memphis completes a two-season home-and-home series with the Seahawks when the Tigers visit Brooks Field for the first time on Mar. 6-8. The Seahawks' final non-conference weekend will feature three games against East Tennessee in mid-March. UNCW hosts another NCAA regional participant in Liberty when the Flames visit Brooks Field in late March.

The Hughes Bros. Challenge (Feb. 21-23) includes Bowling Green, Butler and Marshall.

In Colonial Athletic Association play, the Seahawks open with a series at William & Mary (Mar. 20-22) and host Hofstra (Apr. 3-5). Home conference series include Towson, Elon and Charleston while the Seahawks will visit Delaware, Northeastern and James Madison.
