True, will give you that. I guess I've lived away from Memphis for so long, I forget some folks don't like it. I remember I played this song at a piano bar in LA and someone paid $5 to stop playing it - but I gave $10 bucks to play it ... mother!!!!!!!!

I'm a yes.

It is actually a classically good song. Emotional, good melody, good lyrics. And it does a good job of presenting a Memphis vision. I appreciate the song.

But I totally get Memphians who are turned-off about it. I think the problem is that we have such a deep and rich local music history, it can be galling to us when outsiders use the song to try to define our music/city.

Loved what they did for the city in the commercial. Gave me chills.

Could they have chosen a better tune? For sure. I loathe that song. I always cut it off if it comes on. But screw it. It's a great thing for Memphis and was cool to see being so far from home.
