Does anybody ever get the idea we just need something to argue about around here?

Well, I do love those American jobs and I favor buying American in theory but, as someone said in an earlier post, I think there are more Toyotas made in the good ole US of A these days than Fords. As for profits, when the average American CEO makes 571% more than the average worker, it really tends to blur the line between what's "right" and "proper."

I'm just a working stiff looking to get another 270,000 miles out of another product. That's all it boils down to for me.

As for Lula Belle, they only offered me $400 for her (the nerve! those stickers are worth at least $200!) so she's parked outside the shoebox right now, collecting bird excrement. Anybody know someone who's DESPERATE for basic transportation?

true. Oh I don't know if they have a program where you are living that allows you to donate your car so it can be used just for the purpose that you have given, basic transportation, but if so that could be an option, I do believe it is tax deductible. I am contemplating donating mine but they might charge me. 03-lol

And also JBR, let's not forget how many Americans are about to go to work at the new Nissan plant in Canton. I'm all about American products and I'm and always will be a Chevy guy, but people forget that the "imports" you see driving around are built here in the U.S.A.

So how's the new ride working out so far?

I would love to have a NEW vehicle but I will not pay anything like what they ask for new nowdays. Even "jewing" then down doesn't make that much difference....looks like I'm destined to buying "previous owned".

Alduous Huxley didn't use "Ford" in his novel Brave New World because he liked the sound of it......

The new car is working out beautifully! I am digging the 6 speaker system, the sunroof and that fabulous NEW CAR smell! Oh, and of COURSE the A/C! Just in time for summer here in M town. But I know what you mean about haggling, Still. They were having an "invoice" sale so there's not much dickering to be done (especially when I had my laptop there at the dealership and so I pulled up the invoice on the internet and it was exactly what he said it was). But I do think the car was actually worth 16k. I couldn't be happier!

JBR, you got a good car. That's about what mine went for. I used the Sam's Club car locator service. Spent $35 to join Sam's, they found the Corolla for me here in LR, negotiated the price, saved me some 1,500 bones. No muss, no fuss.

p.s. I didn't ever 'activate' the Sam's card as far as store use; because I've always resented their cavalier attitude towards customers. The whole thing of 'check my purchase against the receipt between the cashout and the door' [the distance being what, 25feet?], among other things, puts me off. I don't need them. They have competition.

But of course, when I'm saving mad jack, I can get over it, temporarily. :D :D
