Boxing doesn't suck it's just on ppv. If there were more title fights on regular tv then boxing would be more popular. The welterweight division is the best as it's been along time.
Yep.
Clearly it doesn't really affect the main draws, they still make dough.
BUT, I remember old ABC and ESPN broadcasts that would show free fights for Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Leonard, etc...so fans could follow their progress.

Pure speculation so it's really pointless trying to compare fighters in different eras. All I know is the money is still really, really good in elite pro boxing and knowing folks follow the money you have to figure that boxing talent should be there.
Elite boxing money still dwarfs UFC money Ruiz purse for this fight was 7 million McGregor got 3 million for his fight with Kabib
30 million for Joshua
So who gets more money in the rematch Ruiz, the title holder, or Joshua? They wouldn't dare would they?
Depends on what they put in the contract of the first fight. I know there is a rematch clause. AJ draws more numbers than Ruiz. Andy Ruiz is champion so he kinda holds the cards. I would at least demand a 50/50 split if I was him and AJ wanted a shot at the belts back.

You are right about that. Not sure why ABC and other networks don't try to get into boxing. Boxing has potential to do superbowl numbers if it were on free tv.

During my pinnacle of boxing loving it was Tuesday night fights on USA. I would see boxers fight in their first pro match and be able to follow them until they reached the top and became PPV draws.

Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Leonard … now that was TV! Just watched Hagler / Hearns on youtube for the heck of it. 3 rounds of fury. What a fight between 2 badasses.

A classic! 3 greatest rounds in boxing history, arguably.

Yeah, that was incredible.
That did for casual boxing observers what Griffin/Bonner did for MMA fans in the mid 2000's.
RE: Anthony Joshua loses heavyweight title to short arm fat guy.
Anyone can watch 5 minutes of highlights of Bowe, Holyfiield, Moorer, Tyson and Lewis in their primes and clearly see there is a giant talent and skill difference between them and the guys today.
Its not the current fighters faults, they are doing the best they can with the situation. But no one can honestly argue the aforementioned fighters were much more talented and skilled in their primes.

Nah, really not true.
You LITERALLY can't watch a highlight to know that.
All three of the "main" guys now and Klitchko's and Lennox were height and weight freaks who could box. Joshua is 6'6. Wilder 6'7, and Fury 6'9 and they all move like middleweights.
They aren't Tony Tubbs, Randal Cobb, Gerry Cooney, Jerry Quarry, or Jimmy Ellis, or Quick Tillis.

Actually those names are a perfect comparison for todays heavyweights but we will just have to disagree.
