Maybe you have not been looking for them when you drive down 35.

I worked in Fort Worth for 10 years, and over that time frame I saw more and more North Texas merch begin to appear on the road and at establishments.

The state of Texas has 3 power conference programs and 2 small private schools who don't belong.

TCU earned their spot in the BIG 12. They invested in their program, won on the biggest stage, and they enjoy strong support from the Fort Worth community.

If you want to bad mouth Baylor and the tactics they used to advance their program, than I am on your side. The Bears should have received the SMU special when Briles and the administration got exposed.

tcu got lucky when aggy left. UH would've been a better add despite the arrogance from Fertitta.

He just doesn’t like to be reminded of the truth that TCU earned its way into the Big 12 while Texas Tech has to sneak in through the back door of politics with Baylor

And realizing economic benifits to the city
Now their in B-12 & bowl

Whatever helps you sleep at night but we both know the former UT Chancellor said Texas Tech got in on our own merits. Continue on with your bashing of Texas Tech and the Big 12.

RE: DRC: "Unite North Texas" Campaign to Begin this Year
Texas Tech was the clear #3 school in Texas. Unless the Big 12 wanted to be only the Big 8+2, Tech was getting in. There had been some talk a couple years before of A&M and Houston going to the SEC and Texas and Tech going to the Pac. A&M got arm-twisted into the Big 12 in order to make sure Baylor got in.

Houston had slipped so far, TCU was the #5 choice.

That is correct and needs to be pinned at the top of the board for those who continue to bash Texas Tech and our inclusion in the Big 12. If I remember correctly, the UT Chancellor said it was between Baylor and TCU and Baylor won out because of better attendance.

Please with the lies and propaganda

If Bob Bullock has not happened to be Lt. Governor at the time then neither Tech nor Baylor would be in the Big 12

From the UT press book “Bob Bullock: God Bless Texas”

Quote:Bullock, invigorated by the triumph and praise of the previous legislative session, summoned Bill Cunningham of UT and Herb Richardson of A&M to his office early in 1994, when the conference shuffle -- converting the Big 8 to the Big 10 -- was on the verge of being a done deal. Glaring at the two men he said, "You're taking Tech and Baylor or you're not taking anything. I'll cut your money off and you can join privately if you want, but you won't get another nickel of state money."

Even UT president Berdal contradicts Cunningham’s account:

Quote:but former UT president Robert Berdahl claimed that UT was threatened. ”As I recall, it wasn't a very veiled threat to cut budgets if Tech was left behind

So just thank your lucky stars that weasel politicians blackmailed your way into power conference for you

10th stop, your obsession with trashing Texas Tech is getting old. Go root for TCU and be happy.

Texas Tech got in and became a valuable member of the Big 12. You can ***** about life in 94 but it doesn't change the fact we got in.

Oh so quoting historical sources that confirm you are full of it and that Tech only got into a power conference by political blackmail is “talking trash”?

I guess I wouldn’t know since TCU earned its way into the Big 12

LOL, if being the tallest midget among the other schools in Texas is earning a way into the Big 12, be my guest.

True TCU fans, please note none of this is directed at you. The TCU grad has no boundaries and loves to bash the Big 12 and Texas Tech.

We should let the UNT fan have his moment of fame.

I won't respond to the TCU grad who worships aggy and bashes the Big 12 and Texas Tech anymore on this thread.

I won’t respond further to the Techy who starts flame wars and then crys crocodile tears when he gets slapped by the harsh truth of fact that his school is nothing but a political parasite

You do realize our all time football series is tied a 4 games apiece, and North Texas and Texas Tech have a home and home series scheduled for 2024 and 2027. Just saying.

Congrats on beating Spike Dykes 3 out of 4. Since then, we have won 2 straight.

I think DFW area Red Raiders are looking forward to the game in Denton. Easy trip for our alumni. We normally help sell stadiums out in Dallas and Ft. Worth and I expect the same in Denton.

Congrats again on the series. It's fun playing different schools in the state of Texas OOC.

Thanks, but tell your fans to get their tickets early, because I'm fairly sure this "UNiTe North Texas" campaign is designed to ensure we can sell out our stadium without the help of visiting fans. If we need visiting fans to help us sell out games in 2024, I will have some serious issues with the leadership at North Texas.

And, congratulations on hiring Matt Wells. He is the real deal. I would not be surprised at all if he had a Matt Campbell type debut season.

If you asked me to name a school in my lifetime who climbed the realignment ladder on merit, the Horned Frogs are first to come to mind.

Were it not for Gary Patterson, TCU would be alongside Rice and UTEP in C-USA purgatory.

The ranking of the top Div. I college programs in the state has stayed fairly constant: aTm has moved up on the Forty Acres, but the Orangebloods still have the numbers.

1. Texas
2. Texas A&M
3. TTech
4. TCU/Baylor

1. Texas
2. Texas A&M
3. TTech
4. TCU/Baylor
6. Houston
7. SMU
8. UNT/UTEP
10. Rice
11. SWT aka Texas State
12. UTSA
--------------
13. Sam Houston
14. SFA
15. Lamar
16. UTA
17. Texas Southern
18. Prairie View A&M
19. Abilene Christian
20. Houston Baptist/Incarnate Word
22. A&M-Corpus Christi
23. Pan Am aka UTRGV

Someone may need to rethink the order of the football programs in bold.
