My initial plan was to do 6 Midwestern schools and 6 Northeastern schools but with a Temple fan and an ODU fan in the mix I thought my best bet was to go West.
My intention was to grab BYU then Houston then AFA and with my 4th pick connect them with either Tulsa or UNM. My next move was to swing back west with Boise, eventually pick up the other big Texas and CA state schools UTSA, UNT, SDSU, and Fresno St. Colo St was on my radar as well and then with my last 3 picks fill in as needed.
I really would have preferred to not go first. Everyone is going to get someone in round 1; it's who you build around them in round 2, 3, and 4 that make your conference. Houston went off the board with the 2nd pick overall and I tried to make things work with SMU. I was totally caught off guard with SDSU and Frenso came off the board.

Are there any trades being worked out? Any teams being released, so that they can pick someone up in the supplemental draft? Or is there even a need for a supplemental draft? Does anyone want to draft out to 14 or 16 teams?

There are some trades being worked on. Not sure about supplemental drafts or adding members. Waiting for all the dust to settle.

Ok, it's 8pm on the 1st. Trade deadline is over. I assume since no one posted any trades that their weren't any.
I'm going to go ahead and award the 1 GM who wants to go to 14 schools the 2 schools he requested if there are no other requests for additional schools.

Tried to work out some trades but they fell through. I would split things up North vs. South. With rivalries being protected across divisions (AppState vs GaSo, etc.)
I would let the best team host the football championship game (head to head, best record overall, then best record division, then best robot rating, etc. until a tiebreaker would be settled).
Basketball would include all teams in the initial round, with the better seed hosting. The top 4 seeds would get bye's, host their first game. The Final 4 would be played at a championship site that would rotate between locations (Memphis, Jacksonville, etc.)

No name really made sense, so I let Amazon buy naming rights.
Obviously basketball was the thrust here; not that football is terrible with Cincinnati, Marshall and two service academies, but the quickest way for a non-power conference to gain credibility is through basketball and with Gonzaga, VCU, Villanova and Cincy among others, I like their chances.
(yes, Gonzaga. For a better TV deal we can all live with it).

Ok, thanks to all the GM's for posting their conferences with divisions, names, cross-overs and any thing else the was pertinent. I'll go ahead and create a poll thread for the best G5 conference.
