Ok, Yosef. Thanks for joining the team. Most of the GMs were involved in the previous draft, so they're familiar with the rules. These should be the same but I'm not going to be the one judging which conference is the best. I don't have enough familiarity with the G5 and upper FCS schools to make that determination. We'll have to do that by committee or poll.

I'm going to wait for Fighting Muskie to weigh in but I think we can go ahead with 5 GMs. Next step is to pick a day for the draft. We'll be in contact via PM probably this weekend to set up a time.

One thing I'm going to allow, is that if you take Army, Navy or Hawaii, you can pair them up with a FCS basketball and other sports team that doesn't sponsor football at the max scholarships level. That means you could take Georgetown but not Villanova.

So, Navy football with Wichita other sports would be fine as would Army football with Georgetown other sports or Hawaii football with Gonzaga other sports.

Ok, Tuesdays out, How about Thursday at 8pm? I'll send out the PMs asking about Thursday.

You get the draft order before the draft and after we get confirmed how many GMs are in the draft. It will be a serpentine draft just like the previous one.

First round compensatory picks will be dished out based on losses taken in trades after the draft. 2nd and future rounds will be the same as the primary draft.

Ok, Thursdays out. I have 3 yes's for Sunday June 23rd at 8pm.

templefootballfan, freshtop, and Fighting Muskie are ok with that day and time. I'm still waiting to hear from Cyniclone and Yosef Himself.

I'll PM them and try to get this to work for next Sunday.

So is an football only + FCS Olympic combo one pick, or would that be made over two picks? Does the FCS have to come from the same or a contiguous state as the football only?

RE: G5 Draft
The spirit of the excercise is to build the best G5 league so in my opinion we should only be drafting football schools. if you draft Army or Navy you do so knowing they are an FB only and you'll be an 11 member Olympic league (or 10 if you take both). 11 members and a full double round robin is trendy all of a sudden so I don't think its wierd at all.

I also think we need to cap things at 12. No compensatory picks unless you dip under 12 due to a trade (or decide to drop a drafted school for an undrafted one).

The Football only + FCS Olympic sports pick is one pick. For the contiguous state requirement, we'll go with the Football school as the required school to be in a contiguous state and the Olympic sports team does not have to be in a continuous state.

RE: G5 Draft
We had an appeal that Olympic Sports should be more important to the continuous states requirement than football. While it is true that there are more sports and travel involved with Olympic Sports than football but this is primarily a football draft. So, we'll keep football as the deciding sport as to the continuous state requirement. However, If you want to pick Army, Navy or Hawaii and not choose an Olympic school to go with them and just have a football only, that is fine.

Compensatory picks will only be allowed if you drop below 12 teams because of a trade or because you want to release a team and select an undrafted team. It's looking like we're only going to have 4 GMs as I haven't heard any thing back from Yosef Himself yet.

If we're stuck at four GMs could we go to 14 teams? It's not an ideal number in the real world *side-eyes CUSA* but at least it would cover most of the G5 schools and whatever callups get the, y'know, call up.

We'll draft for 12 and then let people go up to 14 if they want to with compensatory picks and undrafted teams after the trade period.

I really don't know enough about the G5 and FCS outside of AAC and MWC/BYU to draft 12 teams deep. I could to a Texas centric league or a West Coast/Mountain based league if no one else was drafting those areas but the nuances of what schools to pick up in the mid west, north east, mid atlantic and south east escape me. I know there's a lot of teams there in the G5 and FCS but I don't know what the next best logical choice would be after 3-4 teams deep in the draft would be.

So, for those reasons I'm going to decline to make picks as a 5th GM. Now, if one of our 4 GMs doesn't show up, then I'll make picks because I feel we should have at least 4 GMs for a decent draft.

And don't forget it's 8pm Eastern Standard Time so if any of you are in the central, mountain or pacific time zones, it will be before 8pm.

Yeah, I'll get that out in a few minutes. It's going to be a 4 GM draft since Yosef never responded.
