isn't Roadcap one of the leaders of the team though? would just seem odd to me she'd leave her senior year and at this time of year.

but, who knows. Strange things happen within programs.

Yup, local girl, starting catcher, 8 hrs, 48 rbis. Seemed like she would have started again.

If you scroll down thru JMU Softball Twitter, it was just a few weeks ago KR was tweeting pics of her family at Christmas. Odd. She looked very "purple engaged" in the pic.

RE: 2020 Dukes Softball
2019 Year on Coaches ranked teams on JMU's 2020 schedule

2-14 Texas Tech #15
2-16 South Carolina #21
2-19 UNC #31
2-21 Georgia #14
2-22 Georgia #14
4-1 Va Tech #22
4-1 Va Tech #22

My guess is one of these 5 ranked teams this year could be end up top 10.

To have a shot at a top 8 seed, we'd probably need to win at least 4-7.

To be a top 16 seed we probably need to win at least 2 of 7.

Obviously you've can't fall apart in the other games, but seeding tends to come down to what high caliber teams you have beaten.

Just reported by TJ Eck that she was "removed from the roster due to a violation of team rules."

Yup, that sucks.....but not gonna ever second guess a coach about removal of a player due to team rule violation. I feel like Coach Laporte will be able to replace 8HRs and .254 batting avg.....hopefully there is someone of similar skill defensively on the roster.

Someone on here talked about the true freshman c from Chesapeake (Greenbrier Christian- a perennial softball power) having a great fall. Emily Phillips is her name.

RE: 2020 Dukes Softball
Streaming schedule for JMU's opening weekend in Clearwater, FL, is now posted... https://www.stpeteclearwatereliteinvite....-schedule/

All 4 games will be streamed live via ESPN-3.

Also, the Feb. 19, Wed, game at UNCheat will start at 4pm and though it isn't listed yet here... https://goheels.com/sports/softball/schedule/2020 ...the game likely will be streamed live via ACC Network Extra.

Further, I expect the 2 road games at Georgia (aka Cesspool) on the 21st and 22nd of February to be streamed live via SEC Network Plus.

You beat me to it :) Cesspool? Not a UGA fan or is it regarding their complex?

I caught some fall games and there were only two Freshman that I saw alot of. One was from RI and I think her name was Liana and Phillips was a catcher. One of the teams twitter posts back in September or October said Phillips is the youngest Duke. Just turned 18. She did not play like it. Definitely took control and hit well. I don't know any of the other catchers.

Roadcap released a statement on Facebook saying that she “fell short in the classroom” last semester.

We've all have had challenges. Academics are more important than athletics in most cases. Hopefully with additional time for studies she can finish strong.

04-cheers

Wow, that is an impressive and courageous statement to put out there, and shows her maturity and how she has the big picture in focus.

Best of luck to her on finishing college strong.

Wonder if she could come back for a 5th year if she and LaPorte wanted that? She was a pretty steadying force behind that plate.

RE: 2020 Dukes Softball
I know it's none of my business at all, but now that she's put it out there, it makes me wonder. What does "fell short in the classroom" mean? Wouldn't someone who had grade issues stay on the team & get additional support? Also, violating team rules doesn't strike me as the message that would go out for poor academic performance. Was there an issue attending class? Honor Code violation? Just curious how it goes from member in good-standing to completely removed from the team.

Her statement is a positive outlook for the situation, but doesn't really explain the situation at all.

It explains her situation to the degree any of us have a right to know. Her academics are a private affair, and by making her statement she's been more than generous to JMU fans.

Good luck to Kierstin as she focuses on completing her degree.

And I highly doubt she put that Facebook statement out to feed the info-hungry fans.

I was wondering the same- logical question. Perhaps they are already past that point? Kudos to her for being positive and supporting the team.
