That's your take? This is no one off event and you know it even if you can't bring yourself to acknowledge it. I'll ask you the same thing I asked Mach, why would you cheer against America's success?
There is no one else (read NO ONE) on the political scene right now - or even over the last couple of decades for that matter - who could have, or would have even tried, to negotiate our way to this. The status quo has been dealt a blow here.

Remember this thread.
While Im skeptical of this being effective...Ill wait and see before bashing it. Honestly..Mexico would do its self a favor by stopping the flow of illegals at its own Southern border and work with the US on this problem.

I'm pretty sure that's included in the deal.
Oh look, it's right here:
"I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended. Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!"
And then we hear that Mexico has now deployed 6k NG to their own southern border so...
I think that Mexico has leadership in place who are beginning to understand that working with us can be mutually beneficial.

By the way ........ NONE of this would have ever happened if the DEMOCRATS in Congress had just done what they were elected to do ..... go to Washington and represent the people of THIS COUNTRY and do what is best for the citizens of THIS COUNTRY instead of what is best for illegals flooding into our country. Secure the border and quit playing political games.

Fine. Good for President Trump. I hope it works out as planned.
This makes (I think) three things he's done in 2 1/2 years I actually agree with. One was him coming down harder on Amazon (although that hasn't happened yet - just words so far). I'm not sure I even remember what the other thing was.
And as I said in the other thread, if this works, we won't need a wall after all. So that's even better news.

I heard today democrats want to prohibit deportation of illegals who cross and are pregnant or are LGBTQ, this provision is buried in the latest spending bill. Pregnancy is easy enough to prove, HOW to you prove LGBTQ? Won't every illegal who isn't pregnant just declare they're LGBTQ?

Trump continues to find ways to keep campaign promises, despite overwhelming sedition from the Left. Carry on, Mr. President, carry on!
I'm happy he made them blink, but let's not count chickens yet. A deal is one thing. Enforcing it is quite another (just look at past Demoncrap promises over this issue that were quickly abandoned, along with past Rep complicity in indifference.) We have a long way to go on this issue still, but it is a very important start. Seems to show what sticking to your guns on an issue all Americans should be behind can do, vs. a weak apologizer who does Zero.
Care about your poor/Homeless in America? Deporting 30 million would open up the housing market back to sanity. Much like Hambone's Avocado example a few pages ago, people here don't want to admit we have been artificially subsidizing way too many things in this country. Right-sizing those markets with their true costs would allow people and businesses to make batter and more rational decisions, but many on both sides want no part of that, favoring their continued fantasies instead. See Can, Kick can further into future. Out of sight out of mind. (well, ignoring the hordes here illegally and camping in Downtown LA and San Fran, et cetera (not ex)....)

Here is what I don't understand about this....
Regardless of what someone thinks of Trump personally or as president, he authored a book called 'the art of the deal' in 1987... 30+ years ago. He was known as a savvy deal maker when he was a Democrat years ago and the 'star' of a reality tv show based on similar themes.
Why does it make sense to the left to suddenly ignore 30+ years of 'reputation' and say he simply got 'lucky' here?

CNN Anchor: US Got ‘Almost Everything It Wanted’ With Mexico Trade Deal
Democrats should be happy progress was made. Instead, they’re livid and at a loss. They just can't cope with The Donald's winning.
Quote:CNN anchor Victor Blackwell admitted Saturday morning on “New Day” that the United States got “almost everything it wanted” in the U.S.-Mexico trade deal that was announced Friday.
The “New Day” coverage began with CNN White House correspondent Sarah Westwood describing the White House’s intention to “frame this as a victory for President Trump,” who reversed his original plans to impose a tariff on Mexican imports in response to the country’s concessions, particularly “stepped-up immigration enforcement efforts.”
Westwood reported Trump’s Friday night announcement before showing video of the Mexican ambassador calling what the country agreed to “unprecedented.”

Trump should have just asked Mexico to build the wall. That would have really pissed them off!
