His projected signing bonus of $171K isn't a huge amount, but its tough when you know you'll lose you're negotiating power by waiting a year to sign.

Unless he thinks he can increase his draft stock significantly, I imagine he's gone.

Exactly. $171k isn't much. If he can pull off another year next year like his sophomore year, he'll at least double that. It's definitely a gamble, but its not like he's giving up 7 figures, or even mid 6 figures. I'd like to see him take that gamble.
