I didn't read the full article because I am too cheap to buy a full subscription. However, if they keep writing Cincinnati articles with titles like this, I just might have to pay up.

Justin Williams is the best thing to happen to Cincinnati sports since Paul Dehner (sp?). I caught their Black Friday (I think) special and got the Athletic for $1/month. It's easily worth $12 a month. Cancel you're overpriced cable and newspaper and get Amazon prime and the Athletic.

Sounds like Jarron might be coming back to play PG since that will help his NBA chances the most. He brought the ball up the court a lot last year and flashed as a passer, so I think it will work well if Brannen is on board.

I know Cronin talked about having him play PG and lose 20lbs as that would give him the best chance at the NBA. Seems likely that Brannen would be on board, given our complete lack of PGs. If we get Jaevin they could rotate PG between them quite a bit. If we don't get Jaevin, there is almost no choice but to start Jarron at PG anyway.

RE: Being Reported Jarron Will Return
I don't think he's got 20lbs to lose. My guess is if he went that low it would hurt his effectiveness with the ball. He can probably cut body fat, but he's not in bad shape. Steve Logan had weight to lose, JC maybe just a touch. Hopefully they work with him on quickness type drills. I've read where some specialist in training have good results with improving quickness. He'd benefit from that i believe more so than dropping weight.

I'm pretty sure Cumberland was reported as never having eaten a vegetable before. Strength training and improving his diet and he will be perfectly fine.

RE: Being Reported Jarron Will Return
So with Cumberland officially back, here's how the roster stands:

1. Tre Scott (Sr.)
2. Cumberland (Sr.)
3. Trevor Moore (Jr.)
4. Keith Williams (Jr.)
5. Mamoudou Diarra (Soph.)
6. Prince Toyambi (Fr.)
7. LaQuill Hardnett (Fr.)
8. Jeremiah Davenport (Fr.)
9. Chris Vogt (transfer year, will be a Jr.)

So we have 8 guys for next year and 4 scholarships available. Thoughts on how those should be doled out? Brannen will have 2 more scholarships open after this season, so it seems like getting guys for the upcoming year would be the priority. Still some holes in this roster.

RE: Being Reported Jarron Will Return
We could really use 2 grad transfers for next season, preferably a point or combo guard and a big. Hopefully Jaevin Cumberland is one of them.

RE: Being Reported Jarron Will Return
For a coaching change, and some roster upheaval, the class balance isn't awful. We'll certainly be on the youthful side the year after next, but two seniors (Moore and Williams) and two juniors (Diarra and Vogt) isn't bad. For this year, I'll be psyched if we can get Adams-Woods, Jaevin Cumberland, and a serviceable big. That would set us up really well for next year and beyond.

It is possible Cumberland is back only because of the coaching change. Little chance he could have taken care of his "unfinished business" at UC with Cronin still here.

With Cronin everyone stays, we get Samari and we have a top 15 team. I'm sure Cumberland prefers the possibility of not even making the NCAA tournament with this current team.

I'm sure Cumberland prefers the possibility of having a coach with a different approach, one that might make him more appealing in next year's draft. But hey, who knows?

You're right, we'd be top 15 during the year and lose in the first weekend in the tournament after being outscored.

I don't know if we'd be Top 15 with Cronin. Last season, when the AP poll came out on Feb 18th, we were 21-4 and unranked. They were seeded 7th in the tourney going 28-6. I got the vibe the voters and committee had pretty much caught on to what Mick was.

The only way we're a top 15 team next year is if we are the undoubted top dog of the conference, and even then it would be an iffy proposition.

Memphis and their merry band of one and done's is going to get all the AAC press next year. At least at the beginning of the year.

Now if we go in there and hand them their asses with Cumberland leading the way, only then we would be ranked ...24th.

lulz

LoJo was gone. He has family issues to attend and Micky being here wouldn't have stopped that. Brooks, Ssosemmeeej;alsdkjfad, and Samari most likely are here, sure, but if you think those three make UC a Top 15 team, thats hilarous.

And of course you know that no matter how good UC was Nov-Feb, March would have rolled around and we would be gone in the first weekend of March......again.

We were not the dominating team last year as we were in 2018. We won many close games many helped by clutch shots and play by Jenifer and Broome. So how well they would have been replaced by Johnson and Samari was a big question on our success next year. Brannen's roster is not finalized so there are big question marks there also. Just all speculative about which team would be better next year. About the only sure thing in my opinion is that our schedule next year will be much tougher than 2019.

Great news that Jarron is back! Now make the damn tournament - no excuses.

BK always said, "Next Man In"

Brannen has the keys and four more scholarships. Make it happen!

I'm guessing his doubts were squashed when he decided to return to the Brannen-led Bearcats.

We had already been listed at #6 in a pre-season poll as long as Cronin and Cumberland were returning. To say we wouldn't be top-15 is a stretch.
